Was very fortunate over the weekend to purcahse what looked like a fairly non descript lot of "1930s and 1950s football memorabilia" on ebay for just £12.37. To say I was over the moon was an understatement as it included Evening Telegraph Annuals for 1937-8, 1946-7, 1948-9 and 1950-1. These were not listed, although they were available to see in the accompanying scan, although if you weren't a Town fan you probably wouldn't recognise the significance of them.

A question based on info from each of them below.

In 1937-8 the half back line of three local players had a run of 16 games together between September 2nd and November 28th. Who were they?

In 1946-7 Town's lomgest serving player had been with the club since the 1928-9 season. Who was he?

In 1948-9, looking back on Town's last season as a First Division club, a numebr of unwanted records were made, one of which was the record number of goals conceded. How many?

In 1950-1, journalist "Old Timer" recounts watching th very first match to be played in the Football League at BP. We led 3-0 at half time, but typical Town we held on for a 3-3 draw after 90 minutes. Who were the opponents?

No attempt at ethical or social seduction can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred of the Tory party. So far as I'm concerned they're lower than vermin. Aneurin Bevan.
