Remember they had done full training today so if they were sluggish in the first half it's hardly a surprise.  As RS says, it's about game time and fitness.  Getting a winning habit is nice too.

Clean sheets come from playing a consistent line up and everyone knowing their roles.  Not with lots if changes and trialists etc.

As someone says, usually our pre season form is no guide to actual season form.

Soz my bad
Was late getting there and didn't hear team
Must have been fox or cardwell
He was small and was out injured most of last season 😁😁
Anyway he had a good game and we lost some cohesion in midfield when took off

Neither Fox or Cardwell are that small.

For me, not that good a performance, made to look average by an Evostick side.

Defensively for the 3rd game we gave poor goals away.

Up front Cardwell on his own hardly had a look in against two able central defenders.

So it looks like Slade will play Osborne out wide and not centrally, that at least seems consistent. Thoughts?

Wingers are an endangered species in Grimsby. It must say in our managers' contracts that wide positions must be occupied by central midfielders or full backs.

I might be in the minority with this, but I actually think Osbourne would be more suited out wide. He's good at dribbling and can pick a pass, but would get exposed defensively in the middle, especially if he is a part of a 2.

I don't think Osborne is that bad at getting his foot in and is willing to challenge but I agree he's perhaps not ideally suited for a midfield two. His deceptive running and clever play makes me think he'd perhaps do best playing just in front of two holding midfielders but then he's not the only person in our squad you could say that about! Wouldn't surprise me to see him selected out wide more often than not even though it's not really his position.

I like Osbourne as a player but would be interested on hearing the views of travelling Mariner fans how he performs away from home?

In the home games he gets a pretty high level of involvement and is key to much of our attacking play. I do not attend too many away games and just wonder if he "disappears" in away games or performs consistently in both home & away matches?

Interesting observation. RS stated after the poor away performances under his 'guidance' at the end of last season that some players still had a 'non-league' attitude in that they were fine at home but disappeared away. Not sure who this was aimed at as a few players came from non league

Just saw the highlights, love the way our 2 super experienced  central defenders managed to mark fresh air for the 2nd goal
