Am I missing something, we didn't exactly put away most of the teams around the bottom third of the league last season. 3 points taken from the bottom team is the same as 3 taken from the top team.

Perhaps if we had an Amond to dispatch those less successful teams we would have made it to the playoffs.

No it isn't. They are not called 6 pointers for a no reason because of you take 3 points off a team around you, you also stop them scoring points, it can be six points difference between a win or loss in a game against a top side.

So we finished 8 points shy of the play-off and dropped 14 points against the bottom 4 clubs and the logic of not wanting a player who supposedly only excels against cannon fodder is?

Some talk on here about Vernon not being god enough but I would be more than happy to see him as the hold up man for Podge with Sam Jones in behind.

Yes we finished 8 points off the play offs but that was mainly due to a Mr bogle getting a good amount of goals against better teams. The stats say that amond doesn't score against the better teams, and if we were relying on him for goals, that would become an issue in a promotion push this season. Of course he is a goalscorer, and has the potential to prove me wrong, but the indications are this wouldn't be the case.

Exactly! And he was up against a top class centre back in Shaun Pearson as well.
