21 year old Ben Killip released by Norwich

Chelsea Academy keeper Ben Killip played in Norwich City Under-18's 1-0 defeat to Everton on 2nd November 2013 and was on the bench for the Under-21s against Manchester City the day before.

Ben has been with Chelsea since joining their Under-8s. He was on the Chelsea bench for the FA Youth Cup final defeat to Norwich in May 2013.

Ben transferred his scholarship to Norwich on 6th December 2013, after he had made four youth team appearances for Chelsea during 2013/14 (he had played 14 games in 2012/13).

On 20th February 2014, he joined Kings Lynn on a work expereince loan to solve their goalkeeping crisis. Lynn manager Gary Setchell said: “I’ve spoken to Ricky Martin (Canaries’ academy manager) on a number of occasions over the last couple years and he always said he would help us if he could. I thought I’d give him a ring to sort our keeper situation because if you don’t buy a ticket you can’t win the raffle. They’ve agreed to let him come for a couple of games which gives me a bit of breathing space. I’m really grateful to Ricky and Norwich City. It’s great for a Premier League club to help out a local non-league team in their time of need.”

On 30th October 2015, he was loaned to Lowestoft until 29th November 2015. This was extended as he was first choice for Lowestoft. Killip made ten appearances, keeping four clean sheets and claiming the man of the match honours in the 4-0 win over St Albans City in the FA Trophy.

On 3rd February 2016, Killip was loaned again to Lowestoft until the end of the 2015/16 season.

On 10th June 2016, Norwich announced that they had triggered a one year contract extension for Killip.

He joined Luton on trial in April 2017 after the Canaries decided not to offer him a new contract. He played in Luton Town Reserves’ 4-1 win over Derby County’s second string earlier this week. Hatters’ chief Nathan Jones is now weighing up whether to bring the youngster - who made three appearances this season in the Canaries’ Football League Trophy campaign - to Kenilworth Road. Jones said “We’ve had Ben for a while, so it’s just giving him a game, and apart from the goal he’s been excellent. He made a slight error but we won’t judge him on one thing,” He’s been with us for about a month so he knows our environment and we’re looking to him for the future, we’re not looking for him as being number one. He won’t be continuing with Norwich, so we’re grateful to them for giving him the opportunity to come here as it’s so much better when you get them in your environment, you can see their character and not just what they’re like technically. He’s one that’s on our list, but it depends on where we are and who our first choice is. The process is in place, and we have a list of first choice ones, but we want to add to the competition as well. Craig King has stepped up and shown he may have a future more than he did a year ago.”

Killip's departure was confirmed by Norwich City on 5th May 2017.

Ricky Martin's second single Livin' in East Anglia didn't quite reach the heights of his other song.
