Chesterfield
"Away supporters are normally housed in the Rubicon Print Stand at the north end of the stadium, where up to 2,112 supporters can be seated. If demand requires it then additional seating can also be made available in the Spencers Solicitors Community Stand. Conversely if your team has a small following then only part of the East Stand is allocated and not the North end. Unlike most new stadiums the fans are housed pretty close to the pitch, ensuring good views of the playing action. "

So if the away end holds 2112 it will be a RUSH for tickets

Boxing day great fixture, but why have we got Accrington at home for second year running over the festive period and an away trip to Crewe on New Years Day when a lot of more "local" options.
Would be Coventry first home game when I cannot make it, was hoping we would be home first Saturday but will have to make do with trip to Chesterfield, only an hour from Lincoln, & Derby cup game for early season fix!!

| In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions. Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them. GOD |

Cracking start to the season....potentially worst possible last game....imagine FGR last game of the season if something depended upon it...the Village Green Committee will have more restrictions imposed than you could imagine....hope its a complete dead rubber by the time that comes around.

Or we've already been promoted, they need a point to stay up and we score a 93rd minute winner to secure the title and FGR's relegation back to the Conference, lovely stuff.

Why will the kick-off time be changed, the police in Scotland could not change the time for Scotland v England recently because FIFA said no, surely Chesterfield v Grimsby is not as high risk. Just asking this as I seem confused as to who dictates kick-off times nowadays, the clubs, police, or league.

I don't see why it should be an early kick-off. Chesterfield aren't rivals of any sort and though a lot will be travelling, it'll be good natured and a fun day out.
If Derbyshire Police were foolish enough to try to change the kick-off time, they would take an innocuous and light-hearted away day and give it a sinister Football-Factory like overtone, which would only encourage any idiots.

You must have a short or selective memory Hackney! I can remember trouble at the Findus/Osmond corner in their last game here as well as at Saltergate the season before. Going even further back I remember reading on here about trouble in the late 80s/early 90s.

2112 seats in the away end. They'd better plan to open that side stand as well then.

That was ages ago! I remember the end of season promotion party in 1990, but much of the trouble there seemed to be when the police kettled the Town fans after the game on one of the streets. I still don't think an early kick off would make much difference, and could provoke more trouble. The main concern might be a few idiots stopping off in Sheffield on the way and making trouble, but that can be sorted with a few spotters and decent intel.

Seem to remember there was a lot of trouble before that game in 1990. Probably accounted for the jetting afterwards.
Ficking hot day that was. Some lads tried to cool off by climbing to a higher altitude but the floodlights weren't high enough

I doubt very much that they will make general sale. They will be gone to season ticket holders and trust members (and rightly so). However, I do still have my stub from the Plymouth game if required

Great away day apart from the game, town fans everywhere those were the days you could just turn up without ticket.

Think I'll be getting a ST for the first time as the home games have fell well for me.

I think we could have a huge demand on our hands here and hope the club recognise that and at least start talking to Chesterfield about sending for the "extension pack" of extra tickets they sometimes give away teams.
Of course, this will depend on whether Chesterfield think they can get a home sell-out, but GTFC need to make them aware that unless our fans can be catered for via a generous away allocation, then they run the risk of having lots of GTFC fans in home areas and will need to plan accordingly.

First off it needs to be "one for one" for STH anything other than that then someone will need shooting, however Towns ticketing policy is usually completely bonkers so who knows?
Donny last year p1ssed me off as loyal regular Town fans where left scrambling so others could attend their only game of the season

I don't agree with a 1 for 1 policy, is everyone going to travel down on their own? However a think a 2 for 1 season tick is sufficient. 4 takes the urine a bit, and leaves no opportunity for anyone else.

Why would they travel on their own? If there's an away game like this the group of STHs I sit in nominate someone to go in and get everyone a ticket. If a STH isn't going but someone else wants a ticket then they give their space to them. The problem comes when you have 4:1 like Donny and then every man and his two dogs manage to get a ticket. I still can't believe that Town thought 4:1 was a good idea!
Edit: I'll add that with a 1900 allocation anything other than 1:1 would be unfair on even some season tickets holders. I (without any real insight) estimate we'll have roughly 2k season ticket holders.

You could argue that 4:1 last season might have seemed reasonable at the time the decision was taken (I don't believe that myself but I can see how someone could have thought that) but the club could have been completely surprised by the demand.
But NOW there can be no excuses.

Does that really happen that often, in fact the only time I have seen any bother in home stands was at Burton and it didn't matter which stands the Town fans were in that day.

I don't think it does. But any football club would rather have all visitors properly accommodated rather than have to ask people to move or (if they're being particularly unwise) trying to eject people.

I was in the home stand at Lincoln the season of the 1-1 draw with 10 men early doors. There were clearly over 100 Town fans in there. But it was also clear we were only there to watch the match. So apart from the odd mutter from the locals there was no trouble.

But that wasn't because our ticket allocation had sold out that was because they were drunk up.

Haven't you worked it out? If it is 4 per STH, it's a cynical business scheme to sell more STs!

Unfortunately that could easily backfire as even at 2 per ST holder not every holder is guaranteed to one !! However, if it is an opportunity for the club to boost season ticket sales then they should take it.

or less work for the ticket office staff....sell them out in the first 3-4 days to ST holders and let them do all the running between mates etc...office staff can then get back to standard duties.

That is a fair point, but why not just flog them all to that bloke who goes to the wrestling in America. He's a 'fan' isn't he.

Just wondering how I will get a ticket. I had a season ticket last season and will be renewing this week. However, I'm down in Surrey, so won't be able to go to the ticket office with my season ticket stub. I'm hoping I can order over the phone and get it delivered. (only need one)
