Not many clubs have had the same sponsor for over 14 years,

Thank you Youngs.

I assume not, and that this is what was holding up the new kit....

Excellent news. I assume the cynics above have no concept of how important loyal sponsors are. When we get in the Prem we can replace Youngs with some Far East gambling consortium.

It's good to see a sponsor stick with us for such a long time and also to have a (at least in terms of its branding rather than ownership) local national company.  A fish company and the Mariners; great brand synergy!

Very pleased to have Youngs on board. Our biggest shareholder (whatever your opinion of him) is a local businessman who loves Town through and through, and our sponsors are a locally based business.

That's pretty rare these days, and I think it's worth appreciating.

I don't care where our shirt sponsor is based as long as it's the most money we can bring in to boost the playing budget. If Youngs are the best we can hope for then great, but I wouldn't turn down ten times the amount because a company isn't based locally..

I'm genuinely interested in the reasons behind fans on here hypothetically preferring a lower amount for shirt sponsorship from a local company rather than a larger amount from any other willing company.

Say it was currently £30k a season from Youngs and then another company offered us £300k. Why would you not think it would be good business to accept the higher offer? Surely it's sound commercial sense?

We all want Town to sign the best players we can and win as many games as we can. I just wonder why some fans disagree. I honestly thought it was a no-brainer..

If we want to progress as a club up the leagues over the next few years with a new stadium we may have to reach out further than the confines of NE Lincs to achieve it and be more outward thinking.

We rejoice in the Aalst lads joining the GTFC community from Belguim, why doesn't it extend to commercial activity?

Honestly, just curious..

Same reason I don't want a multi-billionaire Russian owner who has no affinity for the club. I like the fact our owner is Town fan through and through and made his money of fish plus our main sponsor is a fish producer. It keeps the club close to home and gives a genuine connection between board, fans and the community.
