Someone has gone to the trouble of detailing plans for any new stadiums or expansions for all the clubs in league two

So - If we get the new stadium and we are mid table team in L1 what do fans think our average attendance will be. Without a sugar daddy we will have to increase our income streams by quite a bit to compete. Could we awaken the sleeping support and average average 10,000? Thats what a few playoff teams were averaging this season so that what will probably be the rquirement to be a 'competing' team when we go up

According to that article Lincoln have plans to build a new stadium in the Beevor Street area, quite fitting don't you think?

There will be a novelty factor should we EVER get a new home, that should see an increased attendance initially but alot depends ...and i mean ALOT depends on a few factors;

What division we are playing in
How well the team are actually performing
The admission price

and last and by no means least....

The clubs marketing of the whole thing.....  and i fear ..based on historical general levels of PR..... that a "build it and they will come" mentality will prevail as opposed to a planned long term launch strategy.

Regards any new development you will only ever have one "first game" to make that impression and get people interested from the off, miss that opportunity and you will rely on sustained success to build attendances...a half full concrete bowl with rows of shiny plastic seats wont inspire anyone to come back.

If it happens then a launch game needs to be a fun event IMO so the result isnt relevant in any way, a high profile all star game for instance, more like a testamonial match, as opposed to a friendly, ensure all the kiosks are overstaffed so no one has to wait for any length of time, ensure the toilets are attended so bog roll doesnt run out, switch the stewards to friendly mode....etc etc..

Most of those developments have waned mostly though lack of finance.

Redevelopment of Blundell Park is not a option so we have to hope we can move as the running costs at a ageing B.P. must come to a critical point on safety if it has not already.

In future it may even mean one day having to close the ancient wooden main stand so losing extra revenue.

Your on a very slippery slippery slope once that happens.

I think we would retain fans from success alot better with a new stadium, theres alot of offputting things about blundell park lets be honest. For alot of us its part of the charm but if were on a cup run and you go and probably sit in the upper findus and theres that cold wind blowing through and the facilities are so poor, and even if its a really good game someone who's not usually that compelled to go will look at there £18+, think about spending two hours in the cold and probably decide against it. I know on here alot of us would love to attend back in the day 20-30,000 packed into the park, all standing, steam train going past covering us in smoke but alot of people these days just like to be comfortable dont they

The excellent original link seems to have changed now to some sort of advertising, crafty.......

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

I think they call it a paywall. You get to view a couple of articles and then you have to subscribe.

Interesting article.

I was surprised to see we have only the 4th oldest ground.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.
