Think he could be a really good signing. He sounded like he was a class above in that reserve game, and I'm guessing he won't be on much money so is a pretty low risk signing.

If he's quick and can take a man on then he offers something that we lacked last season. He's young and inexperienced so will need to develop, we'd be wise to remember that before lumping our hopes on him but I think he's a positive signing. Welcome Siriki.

Seems like a young player with some talent about him, if he takes his chance and runs with it then who knows what sort of player he could turn into for us. I think it's good to bring in some young players who are hungry to play and prove themselves.

Left, right or both sided player?  In fact didn't he play midfield in the behind closed door game?

Its a pity we cant sign him with a 2nd year option with a 50% pay rise. If he imperoves over the season we could lose him at the end of his contract. A lot of interest in him in the media means his progress will be monitored by a lot of people higher than L2. A prem of Championship club wouldnt want to sign him ATM due ti his lack of experience. They will be looking to see how he does with us before moving in.

Hopefully we get promoted and change the landscape.

Says on the RH interview that he can play up front in a 442 or wide in a 433/4231. Bags of pace, with a trick or 2, could be a player with a lot of potential.

If he says he can play up front then he abviously fancies himself to score a few goals. We will need them from all our forward line even a winger as we havnt got a star striker yet.

Let's hope it is one yr, with an automatic extra year depending on appearances with a £20 million buy out clause.

Welcome young man. Work hard, give us a bit of excitement and try and beat your man every now and again and us mariners will take you to our hearts.

Radio Hull said it's initially 1 yr with an option in the clubs favour to extend.

He comes across really well in the interview, clearly a big decision for him to come to us, and interesting that he was close to signing for two championship clubs last summer. Genuinely think he could be one of the key signings this summer.

No just like the fact he sounds promising and has attributes I like eg skill and quick and likewise comes from the Nike academy .Remember Glenn Hoddle done a similar scheme in Spain where he set up his own academy to give released youngsters a second chance with a few going on to do well for themselves.Likewise having read some of the comments on here about him just get a good feel about this one.

Just watched those clips of him and he's rapid! Moves really well too, glides over the pitch and very well balanced. Given the two signings so far and the players we have staying, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see us lining up in a 4-3-3 next season. None of our current centre mids are mobile enough in a midfield two in my opinion but if Rose is athletic and we can get McAllister fit and firing then I think Osborne could be very dangerous. Give him some outlets high and wide in the form of Dembele and someone else with pace (I can see Tombola being an impact sub in this position) and we could counter attack very quickly. Rose to get up and down the pitch, McAllister to sit and protect the back four and Osborne to create would be quite a nice mix. Excited now to see who else we sign, hopefully some more atheltic, quick and hungry youngsters who want to move up the ladder.

This does sound like it has potential but can't see Jones fitting in a 4-3-3 so easilly. I can more see a 4-2-3-1 with Jones the middle of the 3. Dembele one side and Osborne the other. Rose and another in the holding 2. But at this stage....... Who knows?!

Personally I think Jones has the attributes to play as a centre forward. He's strong, he's no slouch, good in the air, can hold people off well and he's a good finisher. I know he's not played there before in his career but he performed pretty well in quite a few games there since he signed. If only we had someone on the coaching team who had great knowledge and experience of playing up front that he could pass on...

My dyslexic mate already has a chant for him.
Demberle, Demberle, he's the famous Demberle and he's going to Grimsby Town. !!

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Ooh, could turn out to be a very exciting signing. The sort of player the kids call a baller. Or probably a #baller, for some fucking reason.

Pace is obviously RS's key component in making a push for promotion.

The only player we had with real pace last season was Danny Andrew.

Sounds like Dembele could be another Micheal Reddy

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Left, right or both sided player?  In fact didn't he play midfield in the behind closed door game?

Watching that Nike video of him, he played on the left but was very right footed. Constantly cutting in, albeit against shocking defenders. If, and it is a big if he does well, tie him up on a three year contract at Christmas FFS or watch him leave for peanuts.

It's John Rooney, currently at Guiseley who's Wayne's brother. AFAIK Adam is no relation to Wayne.

Is AFAIK some kind of honour or knighthood? Can't say I can remember Adam Rooney making any outstanding contribution to the game.

I wonder how such a talent ( if, indeed, he is) went unnoticed between leaving Dundee United at 15 and joining the Nike Academy much more recently. Just curious!

He had championship clubs looking at him and was asked by Huddersfield to come for a trail but he got a bad injury in January which put a stop to that.

Agree it isn't great but at least it hasn't been a failure. What that doesn't tell you is how many people go on to forge a career in the game in other capacities such as sports science or coaching.

Some players reach the professional game by all sorts of strange routes. He is a young and untried prospect and we won't know how he will fare until he's being kicked by no nonsense league 2 fullbacks. If he prospers, we maybe have a gem on our hands, if he doesn't, then it's a 1 year gamble worth taking.

It's a gamble absolutely worth taking IMO. Like others have said, sladey wouldn't of signed if he didn't think he could be an asset. He has seen him first hand in the reserves and a number of training sessions. If it is true that Huddersfield wanted to sign him before he got injured then he must have something about him!

In any case I think we will certainly sign another left winger (sam Kelly heavily linked) so we would probably just use tombola/Kelly on the wings as these are more proven at league level, however if Rhys browne and siriki can prove their worth then it could be very good news. Potentially 4 good wingers all fighting for them 2 wide berths.

I'd question that part. Bolarinwa is certainly not "proven at league level". He may have made 30-odd appearances (a lot as sub), but I don't think he's proven himself at this level by a long long way yet.

I think I said 'more proven' . Tombola isn't proven I agree, but a full season and 30 appearances would make him 'more proven' than browne/dembele who have failed to make a single league appearance between them. Sam Kelly has plenty of league experience. We also know what tombola offers

So, if I'm reading the last few pages of this thread correctly, some people think this kid won't be any good because he's not played professionally before now? Are these the same ones that think Rose won't be any good because he signed from Newport, or perhaps Nolan wouldn't be any good because Lincoln didn't want him? Oh, and Clay would be rubbish because Halifax didn't want him etc etc.

I personally always thought that Barry Hayles was a rubbish striker because he didn't make his League debut until the age of 25. Yeah, I know he scored plenty of goals and played loads of games in the Premier League but deep down, he must have been pretty rubbish to have been so old when he first played League football...

There is a point in every footballers life when they haven't played professionally yet. Even a lot of professionals at teams like Arsenal and Chelsea etc have never seen a first team game in years.

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Yes and I counted 0 goals and 0 assists (though he did set up 2 decent chances) and one header/shot on target in his showreel, I should hope we can do much better than that from a midfielder/winger that we sign

But surely to build a promotion winning team to League 1 we need players who are capable of playing at that level? Don't get me wrong , Kelly could be a great signing but up to now RS's signings haven't made me think we are building a team that will be serious promotion contenders next season.

I know this has been said a lot but if he shines today then we really need to tie him down to a long term deal. I fear we will do the typical Town thing and dither on it and he'll be snapped up on a free transfer. I know there's an element of risk offering long-term deals but I genuinely think this lad could make us more money than Omar.

Can we just for once be proactive and not reactive?!? He'll no doubt start to attract attention and he could potentially agree a deal with a new club in January!

We have the option for another year. RS has already been asked about this and said all is in hand.

Oh right must have missed that, cheers mate.

Do you know what interview it was where he said this?

From NellyGTFC's post[url]Just thought it was worth mentioning, on Radio Humberside today Slade mentioned that Dembele's one-year contract also includes an option for the club to keep him for another year.

So a two-year contract if the club wishes to take it up, no clubs can pinch him off Grimsby Town for free.
