Ours aren't even on sale yet because the club is incapable of forward planning or any kind of innovative marketing. Hope this helps!

I am sure he would not but from a straw poll of guys I socialise with it appears they could well have 5000 season ticket sales which is marvellous at this level.

Said it before I have worked/lived in Lincoln since 1973,& whilst they had an excellent team in the early 80's which due to their Chairman at the time threw away promotion and a very good side under Graham Taylor with the odd decentish side intermittently, there has never ever been this level of interest in the Chimps.

If they can keep the Cowleys & use their cup & South African money positively we may be looking up at them over the next couple of years until the normal status quo prevails and we again become Lincolnshire's number one team. Hopefully, RS will do the biz and we finish above them otherwise the tenners I keep betting on us outperforming them is going to be a bit costly!!!

But that's not fair. You're board/management have made excellent use of the feel good factor.
That's cheating. 😉

Most Lincoln fans I've spoken to are fully aware that as soon as the winning goes so will the new fans. Who will go first though - the fans or the Cowleys?

Cowleys if they keep Lincoln performing will be gone by Christmas, Lincoln aren't a big enough club to keep them. Also if the Scunts get rid of Alexander they'll come sniffing and they are a bigger club than you according to a couple of gimps I know.

Supporting the Mighty Mariners for over 30 years, home town club is were the heart and soul is and it's great to be a part of it.

I see what you mean but I am not sure the Cowley's would go to a club that goes through managers at the rate they do.

Can't see that happening perhaps it was a case of us not being big enough but now that's changed.
Getting new training ground for them to progress the 1st team and then the youths.
Think more people in Scunny support Liverpool than their home town team find that sad really but its everywhere apart from Burnley and the north East teams.

I think that's very harsh.

The club could well have ordered some season ticket books as early as February/March time but what would have happened if the club changed name or the two years that the season fall in changed, or even what if the alphabet changed and all the letters for each stub had to be changed?

We would have looked very foolish!

They still haven't sent them out (no surprises there). I can't understand why the club are so slow at organising season ticket sales every year, and seemingly averse to any suggestion they start putting them on sale earlier (or heaven forbid, actually come up with some kind of innovative season ticket marketing or pricing strategy!)

Personally, I'd have reduced prices last year, had people knocking on doors, standing on street corners and added extra incentives for season tickets such as reduced prices for cup matches. If you'd have done this then we would have sold lots more and if we'd have put them up slightly this year and kept the incentives, I'm sure we could be looking at shifting 3k plus this year and getting much bigger gates for cup games.

How very negative

Easily solved though.  With every season ticket you get a free (cheepo) GTFC pen.  In the event of the multi billionaire takeover and the change to Grimsby Mariners, or Steven Hawking revealing that the Roman Calendar is 3 years incorrect and Brexit meaning we now have to speak Esperanto and change our alphabet, simply cross out the incorrect information and write the correct information next to it.

Simples

ST incentives would help. I've never had one apart from the odd cinema voucher or bring a friend for £10 from a few seasons ago.

Half price Pre-season entry to games and £2 off full ticket price for cup games would cost the club nothing and would seem to the fans to be getting something back from the club...?

Or every season ticket bought you get a brick named on the wall in the new stadium.....   *** oh

Yes lol could they take the losses the regulars were used to?

We had issues with the EFL gantry. EFL were terrible over the  info just said late on this is what you need to do you have no choice.
Think 90 seats were affected in the end. Majority were sorted without a fuss.
Heard you had issues too.

If they can plan a price rise a year in advance, why can't they manage a plan to sell season tickets before June?

It doesn't particularly matter to me, I'll get one, but I reckon some people will have had the money and spent it on something else. The more opportunity you give people to buy it, surely the more you'll sell.

So would these same people spend the money they had put aside for utility bills on something else if the bill came in late?

So would these same people spend the money they had put aside for utility bills on something else if the bill came in late?

3,000 last season is bloody good going and it shows that someone at the club knows what they are doing. It makes me laugh when idiots on here who have know idea about marketing say that there's no forward planning.

If they can plan a price rise a year in advance, why can't they manage a plan to sell season tickets before June?

It doesn't particularly matter to me, I'll get one, but I reckon some people will have had the money and spent it on something else. The more opportunity you give people to buy it, surely the more you'll sell.

That's my view on it too.  I'll buy one regardless of when they go on sale but it's the lack of forward thinking every year that baffles me.  With the way the wind was knocked out of the sails a bit last season and with no real marquee type signing as of yet, I do fear for the number of tickets we'll sell this season.   Just from speaking to people who sit near me for the final few games of last season, there appears to be a real apathy towards buying new season tickets.

I received my ST pack today and although I'm not bothered when it comes, as long as it's before the Early Bird offer finishes, I do have one gripe about the pack. Enclosed was a leaflet for the Grimsby Town Sports and Education Trust which was announcing 2 and 3 day training sessions for 5 to 15 year olds. I thought this was a great idea until I saw that the dates mentioned are 30th and 31st May for Oasis Academy Wintringham and Humberston Academy. Seeing as these dates have passed the whole concept has become a pointless exercise. I've never been one to criticize the commercial side of the club but this is so stupid as to be unbelievable.

could have had 10% off if you had been an ST holder as well....

Really? I'll alert the United Nations, you press the 4 minute warning button, crash the world economy and stop aid to the starving millions.

FFS are we really that anti Town that we have to find small details to pick at and moan about................In the scheme of things yes it is a bit unprofessional but to be honest it's no big deal.

Why didn't we have people putting season ticket packs through doors a couple of days after pay day, people standing on street corners or on the sea frong flogging them? Why didn't we have door knocks and also why didn't we sign Amond and Arnold? This might appear all cynical capitalist tactics but Surely all these might have boosted it to maybe 3500 or maybe even 3750! Then more people would be there to enjoy it and might come back this season!

I may be wrong but I thought the delay in season tickets was due to the clubs financial year end being May? If we started selling them in May 17 we'd have had them on last years accounts (as well as all of last years ST sales) and would have declared a larger profit/ bigger tax bill. I suppose it wouldn't have mattered had we made a loss but with the Bogle money coming in it could have been counter productive to sell them early.

You pay tax or VAT as it would be on ticket sales at the same percentage so though we would have paid more VAT we would also have made more profit which heading into a season where the we need to show some ambition would have been useful wouldn't it?

Stop and think about it would putting them on sale earlier necessarily mean more sales? You are either going to get one or not going to get one regardless of the cost. In reality unless clubs slash prices or have a promotion/near miss and cup run season the term before most clubs sales stay at a similar level each year, our level appears to be in between 2500 and 3000.

What has fuelled this thread is the fact that Lincoln went early and have sold a lot, FFS people even criticised GTFC for freezing prices and warning of a "potential" increase in 18/19

The Gimps went early for one reason only and that is if The Cowley's had left before they went on sale they may have struggled to hit the numbers they have done

Its called seizing the initiative...something we didnt do considering 10-15000 people had just had a great day out at Wembley, the feel good factor was there..right then...not 6-8 weeks later when half of the squad had announced it was off elsewhere.

Its a continuing theme with the club and its PR....it simply isnt consistantly good enough....there is some good stuff but some simple basic stuff just falls flat....come on...how hard is it for someone to just proof read what is going in the packs and realise that they are outdated ?

Mind you on the plus side i cant wait for my ST to come through so i can use the 10% off admission price voucher at Cleethorpes Zoo.

Not sure how making more profit shows ambition Herts. To me it shows a complete lack of business acumen if you have the option of deferring profit/income to reduce your tax bill then doesn't that give more money to possibly put into a playing budget rather than paying the tax man. I would love to know how many players look at a Profit and Loss sheet before they decide to sign compared to having a few extra quid in their pay packet.

Yeah maybe, maybe not. Money in the bank early in the window has to be better for player recruitment, but who knows. Massive over reaction to something tat is ot a massive issue o be honest.

What  crass statement! It's a loss of potential goodwill and also some revenue. I may have wanted to treat a couple of my grandchildren to this kind of experience but to receive the information from the club 5 days after the event started makes it impossible. It is more than a bit unprofessional , it's absolutely farcical. As for the first sentence in your post - just pathetic!

Season ticket sales probably account for a third of the club's income every season. As it's such a significant part, I find the marketing around it extremely half-hearted and uninspiring. It could be looked at cynically and be judged at taking our loyal fans for granted or even the club giving up on attracting the floating fan. It could even be a lack of effort, lack of expertise or just a case of managing the status quo until the new stadium appears. I just don't understand it.

I know a lot of fans on here will renew theirs without question and wonder what all the fuss is about, but it isn't about them, it's about putting forward such an attractive offer that not only all of the loyal renew, but the not so loyal are tempted too. Looking around at how a lot of other clubs have been pro-active, all I can say from a marketing point of view, it's been a pretty poor show, especially when the club have put together the odd piece of decent PR from time to time over the past year or two..

According to the telegraph over £30,000 taken,

The club are hoping for 3,000 but say anything over 2,500 would be good,

That equates to 140 tickets sold.

150 new applicants so far have requested a pack.

The club make the same mistakes every year , we should be making big name early signings to get the punters interested, Instead we wait until a week before the seaosn starts and take the dregs

I'll be getting mine just as soon as the DFS sofa sale finishes

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Ours always go on sale early nothing to do with the Cowleys'.

It is good business to get as much money in as soon as possible. Customers are fickle and can soon change there mind. If I had some money sat waiting for a season ticket I know my wife would soon be looking for a "better" use for it.
I think it shows how very naive the management of the club is
