Club just tweeted that our first signing is imminent...

Who do you think it is?

Wouldn't mind Gavin Massey, didn't sign a new contract at Orient, he looks a quality player.

I suspect it is a re-signing rather than a 'new' signing, Collins most likely.

Didn't he sign for South Shields

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.

3 goals in 49 appearances over 2 seasons for Port Vale. 23yo.

Can't say I've ever heard of him but welcome to the mariners if it is him!

Quick glance on Twitter looks like he's not going to be missed by Port Vale fans. Doesn't mean to say he won't be a good player for us though.

Gavin Massey would be better than him. 8 goals in a poor orient team from the wing, pace to burn and still only 24.

Imagine he's played against slades teams a couple of times last year and probably known to paul wilkinson too, sam Kelly was signed by rob page who paul wilkinson was assistant too at Northampton (I think) also been at Everton and Norwich academy so wouldn't be surprised to hear that wilko has contacts their still and has got more info from him. Just watched a 12 minute YouTube clip, looks athletic, hard working and a decent left foot: right sort of age also. Not a signing that's particularly got me excited but as always we will wait and see!

Seem to remember Morecambe weren't too bothered about losing Amond.

well in his defence.... Hurst only picked him twice

i think he came on as sub in both appearances and in one of them we were 2 or 3 goals down when he was introduced IIRC.

Came on at ht (with Bogle?) when we were 2-0 down at Aldershot. Won 4-3.

Started the next at home to Eastleigh but came off at ht.

Posted back some days later, even more forgettable than Ryan Jennings.

Brother of Danny - just released by Newport. My juices are flowing at the same time as the hairs on my neck are standing to attention

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitch_Rose

infamous for his performance during the 3-2 defeat at cambridge - gave away the winning penalty, got sent off and then knocked the red card out of the ref's hand,

Another central midfielder, released by a team which was literally a minute away from going down to the conference 🤔

Suppose as he didn't quite manage to get relegated he's technically an upgrade on Summerfield and Berrett

Because i'd like us to sign a midfielder with a track record better than 'almost relegated club glad to see the back of him' and 'his brother plays in the premier league'

No, which is why i'm inferring things from his track record. I'd be delighted for him to make me look like a pessimistic mug.

No idea about Rose but Slade's aim is to bring much needed pace to the squad, not just in wide areas but all over the pitch

Because i'd like us to sign a midfielder with a track record better than 'almost relegated club glad to see the back of him' and 'his brother plays in the premier league'

Why are players signed from 'almost relegated' LEAGUE clubs, who have played a load of games in the football league deemed not as good/exciting as players who have played most of their games at Conference North level or below? Ie Pearson, Hearn, Osbourne, Sam Jones, Bogle, Asante...

I'll leave it to Slade to be a football manager, and i'll stick to my role as supporter - giving a new young player a warm welcome and a fair crack of the whip.

Don O'Riordan springs to mind.
Relegated with us and went on to play in old first division (Premier league)

I'm guessing he's a bit of a runner who isn't perhaps the best with the ball at his feet.

Fair enough for me. Nobody ever claimed Cockerill or Cunnington were the most skilful of midfielders, but they certainly allowed the others to play.

We were badly lacking in pace throughout the squad last season so good to get some in early on. Quite what we're going to do with all our central midfielders, I'm not so sure!

Mixed reports about him but we will
Have to wait and see. Now disley,Comley and gunning all gone, we did need a tough tackling midfielder. He sounds energetic type so hopefully good competition for mccalister? Hopefully wilko can help develop him nicely and at just 22 he's at a good age

Clearly, some of our midfielders are surplus to requirements. There's ages until the new season and footballers go out as well as come in.

Welcome Mitch.
