Just wondering what chances Town have (if any!) of re-signing Deano...only bringing this up as he did well for us and I have seen that he hasn't managed to make the squad behind two other unknown youngsters?

He can't be in this weekend's Man Utd squad because he is with England at the U-20s World Cup in South Korea.

Nigel Batch was the best keeper I ever saw play for Town, just my opinion.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Just as others of a certain age might quote Rhys Wilmott or Anthony Williams ......

they would obviously be proved to be mentally deficient ..but they could still say it

Although only a loan beasant was by far and away the best keeper I've ever seen play for town. Not his shot stopping, not his ability to catch or punch a ball, but the ability he had to organise and control the defence was second to none. They knew what they had to do and where they had to be, in fact us in the stand knew because we could hear him. He gave them confidence in him, and therefore they had more confidence to be able to play their own game and have the confidence to know that if they messed up, he would be able to get them out of the do do.

As an ex keeper imho he was a superb keeper whose career was defined on the positive by a penalty save but almost more high profile was the couple of very high profile errors.

I can see a lot of young Deano Henderson in him. The question is, will he take the easy route and stay at manure, or will he have the confidence in his own ability and go out into the big wide world. I think he has the ability and his next move will be the biggest choice of his career.

Interestingly another good young keeper, David stockdale of Brighton, has turned down a new contract with them. A bit of inside knowledge on this one. He is apparently on the verge of joining Chelsea which will leave him at best second choice (assuming begovic is on the move), and realistically he will never be first choice. So it seems he is happy to go there to not play football, but to earn 20k a week extra. It might not happen, but it comes from someone within the Brighton 'family' so a good source. Just think it is so sad that good talent is prepared NOT to play football because they will be paid more. I understand that it a short career and it might be cut short by injury, but it does seem like the love and the spirit of the game has gone. When I was a kid I would have sold my left arm to do something like play in the cup final. They just don't have those dreams anymore.

Had some good keepers here and some dross ones Wainman.Coyne,Batch,Sharewood,Bessant,Davison and Slade fav Mildenhall were all excellent keepers in my fifty odd years.

Reece wilmot and criton being two of the worst.

Macca probably sits between those stats.

Agree with Rhys Wilmot but I thought Paul Crichton was pretty good.  He made a couple of bloomers that made him star on Danny Baker videos but I'm also sure he won player of the year while he was here.

Beasant probably the most authoritative but for me hard to choose between him Batchy and Danny Coyne, and IMHO Henderson will not come back to GTFC in a month of Sundays
