Swindon Town are set to appoint former Tottenham and Manchester United striker Teddy Sheringham as their new manager.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

On 21 May 2015, Sheringham was appointed to his first managerial role, taking charge of League Two side Stevenage, replacing Graham Westley. He was sacked on 1 February 2016, with the club 19th in the league having collected only three points from their last eight matches.

I was looking at the odds last night, Mansfield are clear favourites. They've made some brilliant signings but can they gel as a team in their first season together?
I''ll still be putting Grimsby in my bet for promotion regardless

I wouldn't be surprised if they hit the ground running. Guylinerman knows how to forge a winning side.

For me I'd like to think we will be aiming for the play offs.
I'll be happy if at the end of the season we finish on more points than we did this season and their is some consistency and I'd like to think we play  ore exciting football than we have of recent years.

Whilst I agree we lacked the physical attributes, I don't agree about the one good game in three/four.  The problem was the inconsistency with tactics and starting eleven.  Make no mistake, last year was a missed opportunity to achieve back-to-back promotions.  A settled side from January onwards should have easily finished top 7.

Too much to expect anything other than what was achieved last season:

Four managers--Hurst, Moore, Bignott and Slade, all with differing tactics and methods which would have totally confused the players.

Top League goal scorer sold and not replaced.

Players like Macca inconsistent throughout the season, being replaced by a gem such as  Henderson who was trashed by a desperate Bignott, which made Macca who is a good keeper to childishly seek pastures new.

All in all quite a eventual season, which but for the sake of three more wins would have put us into the playoffs, for the future and as long as Russ does not walk out on us again, I feel with the help of Wilco he will get his first promotion, bookies odds and favourites mean naff all till the results of the first ten games are known
