They start tonight. The first time for five years that we've not been involved, so it will be nice to watch them as a neutral!

I guess of Aldershot, Tranmere, Village Green, Dagenham, Tranmere "deserve" league football most and VGR least. However, if we want to go up next year I'd rather not have Tranmere in the division as they would inevitably be stronger than the other sides, at least on paper. The easier the league is overall the easier our task next season is. Just hope VGR don't make it into the league!

I'd like to see Aldershot from those teams but i'm not really that fussed, as long as it isn't the Veggies.

As long as FGR and Scunthorpe fail in the play-offs I'll be happy, not really bothered about any of the others.

I thought FGR were going to win the league?

I hope they fail in the semi's, I think Tranmere will come up to league 2.

Out of the 4 I'd like Dagenham purely because its the only 1 of the 4 I've not been to but think it'll be Aldershot.

If it is Aldershot then they'll have to buck a trend, as I don't think that any team who has ever finished 5th has won the National/Conference League Play-Offs.

Whose easiest to get to gets my vote, i suspect Tranmere or Dagenham out of the four.
Who will bring more supporters here adding to our revenue.....Tranmere undoubtedly.

Tranmere for the above reasons but will accept Dagenham as on paper they have less potential to be a threat overall.

I seem to remember Trampmere's attendance at ours was shocking ? !!

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Seem to remember that the Tranmere home game last season was a Friday night game so could explain it somewhat. I also think that was the match that Wagner sang at so could also explain it...

Aldershot are the form team with just one defeat in 20 games. Think they'll take care of Tranmere, who will then do 5 or 6 seasons non league...just like we did.

Expecting to see Tranmere's top scorer Andy Cook on soon to possibly kill the tie off.

My automated betting system backed it pre-match. It places bets every day, so the result of one game doesn't really mean much. I did manually bet in-play to top up when Aldershot went down 1-0 though! I really shouldn't interfere

I flipping hope not much further. They'll never be off the BBC. It's bad enough when they're in the Cup.

Up the Fax!

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.

Please not Salford as so Plastic
Way down the list of proper Manchester non league Clubs
Kiddy to advance over the next couple of years as miss that away day
Into league two all are miles away so not fussed
Guess Veggies as they may finish below us as they are to small a club to sustain lg 2
Had my second £20.00 bet with a glory boy gimps fan that we will finish above them next year
Could be a good money making scheme

What an awful game that was.

Having said that I think we would all have said that after our first leg last season!

FGR certainly didnt look anything like the threatening side they have been over the years, solid unit, but they always had pace out wide and a real goal threat in recent years but not on that showing.

Agree Abdul

One year ago today we lost that first leg at home to Braintree

Who'd have thought that just 10 days later we'd be back in the league?

Tranmere take the lead in the second leg, any slight chance of an Aldershot comeback definitely over now.

Bit of an upset in the National League North as Kiddy lost 2-0 home to Chorley (after winning 1-0 in midweek).

Kiddy finished 2nd, Chorley didn't even make the play-offs but qualified because 5th placed Darlo weren't eligible (not up on the reasons - probably something to do with their ground).

Meanwhile Halifax are leading Salford 1-0 in extra time in the other play-off.

Halifax beat Salford 3-0 on penalties.

Not sure how everyone feels about Salford, but I for one am already fed up with the attention they get. Hopefully this set-back brings them down a peg or two.

Halifax v Chorley in the final at the Shay. Would think Halifax will secure their return to the National League next week.

It's funny how football fans opinion vary so much, I personally wish nothing but pain and suffering to there fans and chairman.

The way they treated our fan that day I will never forgive, implying he got what he deserved. I also hope their new stadium gets dry rot after 18 months and is condemned by the local council

Are we any closer to getting promoted since Hurst has been here? No

Has he been given time to achieve promotion by the chairman and fans? Yes

Hurst out

Lets face it if it wasn't for the Neville's, Butt, Scholes etc... nobody would be interested, actually in reality the only ones who are interested are a few Manc chancers and some of The Class of 92's buddies in the media.

I was at Tranmere away and I can't forgive how their fans gloated when we got relegated, far worse than some dude giving the FGR stewards excrement then getting chucked out for it! Ok the way he got chucked was a bit OTT, but you reap what you sow.

Therefore I want FGR to go up.

Re the Conference North and South playoffs. Those clubs denied a place knew the rules and could have made the investment in facilities instead of in players giving them an advantage over the other clubs.

Not saying I agree with the rules but this sort of thing has happened before, several years ago.

But when 3 teams make it all the way to the end of the season, finish in the playoffs and then have to drop out it makes a mockery of the whole system. If there were safety concerns fair enough but this is about 500 covered seats!

Not sure how everyone feels about Salford, but I for one am already fed up with the attention they get. Hopefully this set-back brings them down a peg or two.

Halifax v Chorley in the final at the Shay. Would think Halifax will secure their return to the National League next week.

Changed colours and the badge.  For me changing things like that is a no no. I hope they never get any higher than they are.

Darlington were the rightful winners in my eyes. They were shafted and that league is discredited . As for the conference play off final - I'm in the position of wanting both teams to lose. I can't stand either of them.

I too was at that game I remember it well, I put that down to "football banter" they would've done that to any team that got relegated, not just because it was us, just like town fans would've done if Tranmere got relegated at Blundell park, if people think otherwise there're being incredibly naive.

As for the FGR stewards, I think you'll find he wasn't giving them "excrement" as you put it, he was playing with an inflatable ball with his 12 year old daughter,  you're not a Barnet steward are you?

Are we any closer to getting promoted since Hurst has been here? No

Has he been given time to achieve promotion by the chairman and fans? Yes

How do you know they had the money to do either?

Well they had competitive squads so they must have spent some money.

But when 3 teams make it all the way to the end of the season, finish in the playoffs and then have to drop out it makes a mockery of the whole system. If there were safety concerns fair enough but this is about 500 covered seats!

Them's the rules. They knew them in advance. So whether the rules are right or not they should be applied to all. It didn't come as a surprise at the end of the season.

The ironic thing is Darlington had no shortage of covered seats at their old ground. Everybody could sit on their own row. But clubs shouldn't be allowed to go up without adequate facilities. Guiseley's ground was inadequate for our support base, especially when a Boxing Day game was scheduled there.

Half truth, yes he was playing with an inflatable ball he was then told that inflatables weren't allowed to which he refused to hand it over, he then pushed a steward and was removed by force.

They wouldn't have been allowed into the NLN if their ground didn't meet the requirements for that division. The requirements for the NLP are more stringent.

It is a bit strange. Surely they should let them into the play offs and if they get promoted, they have the close season to sort out the seating arrangements or the next team in line gets the spot? I presume it's a requirement of the league above and not the league they are trying to get out of?

I understand your ground has to up to a certain standard to move up the pyramid,

BUT

I do not understand how league clubs can play on ploughed fields,

Newport and Cheltenham the worse culprits.

Surely there should be a rule that your pitch is up to a certain standard.

Totally agree Pete.  A poor pitch directly affects results.  A less than perfect stadium can be managed and controlled by today's safety standards and regulations.

Forest Green Rovers have sold under 3,000 so far for the final, what a joke.

Tranmere have sold over 12,500 tickets up to yesterday.

That'd mean delaying fixture confirmation for the following season in case the criteria were not met.

I understand that N Ferriby would have had to drop out the National league as they are unable to upgrade their ground to meet the standards. For what it is worth I want Tranmere to win the final. A proper, well supported team and will add to our attendances much more so than FGR.

I don't think SNAFU5 was referring to FGR.

I'm guessing he was referring to the team that were robbed the year before !!

Personally I think FGR deserve to be promoted. They've gone close the last few years and keep coming back year after year . They haven't spent stupid money on players the last few years compared to what they used to and have serious plans for a new stadium which will grow their fan base . Let's not forget a team like Accrington only average about 1800 at best and no one slates them .

The year ending 30 April 2016 they made a loss of £2.47 million. A loss of £2.47 million. Their income for that season was £1.1 million. It was widely reported that Parkin was on £3000 a week so his wages alone were 15% of their turnover. That's ridiculous. He isn't even that good.

That was down on the previous year but the losses for the two seasons combined (14/15 and 15/16) were £5.3 million. I doubt Town's budgets over the last two seasons were as much as their losses and we get nearly 3 times as many fans through the gates. I imagine they're

Accrington Stanley are a well run club that have earned their place in the FL and continue to prosper through astute management. They weren't the vanity project of some millionaire trying to push his own green agenda through a football club that he will ultimately ruin. He's previously claimed that the long term ambition for the club is to get them to the championship but a village team in that part of the country just isn't capable of sustaining that, there is very little appetite for football in that area. As seen by their woeful ticket sales for the play off match tomorrow which currently stand at roughly 1/5 of Tranmere's, slightly down on last year. The fact that their ticket sales have fallen show how little the locals actually care for the club, clearly a significant number of them only went last season for the novelty of a trip to Wembley.

The fans who were there before Dale Vine are the ones I feel sorry for. Sooner or later he will get bored when he realises the only way a club that small in Gloucestershire can compete or get in to the FL is by him throwing more and more money at it. Once he's bored he'll leave and behind him he'll leave a once-proud non-league club with a long history that now has a huge amount of debt, a fanbase that hasn't increased in size and, if he's there long enough, a white elephant of a stadium that cost them a fortune in the middle of nowhere. Ultimately, they'll go bust because of his ego and that is really sad.

I bet a fair number of those in attendance in the FGR seats were Ecotricity employees with free tickets and a strong encouragement to go - 'Dale will like it'.

Excellent knowledge of football finance though, thanks for the lesson .

Those losses will look like a good investment if they get into the league. They won't get relegated for a while with mr eco warrior behind them will they ?

Will they look like a good investment? And how long can he afford to spunk money away? Plus I'm fairly certain the FL has rules on wages being a certain percentage of your income so either they will have to slash the wage budget or he'll have to directly put money in to the club. Obviously he could do this through "sponsorship" with his company or something along those lines but how rich is he? In at least three season the club has made losses of around £2.5million and he's been there since 2010 so I think that figure is probably close to double. How long can he afford to lose money like that?

A football team should represent a community. The local population is so small that it doesn't deserve one of the 72 places in the FL. I don't care how the club is organised and what they do with their finances, it's an artificial entity. We have seen it before with Rushden and Diamonds (aka Rush out and buy them). FGR will fizzle out when their owner loses interests them and the club will not be able to afford to even pay their way and they'll end up having to start at the bottom of the pyramid like AFC Rushden had to. When you compare their tiny population with that of Birkenhead it's a no-brainer who "deserves" to go up. Notwithstanding the second place by default should be the fair option for a neutral.

Whoever wins the game over 90 mins , ET or pens deserves to go up .

The owner is a savvy businessman who knows how to run things , if he has to run it to rules once they're in the league I'm pretty sure he'll be able to .

We're looking for PP to generate a income stream when it's built as FGR will with their eco stadium.

We're looking to grow our match day attendance with a new ground as they will .

They'll be sustainable. It's in their identity as a club .

They didn't get attendances of 2000 this season when they're situated in a village. They're planning to move 14 miles away to a field off a motorway. Do you honestly think their attendances will increase? It's not as if their current ground is old and has poor facilities, they've not even been there for 15 years.

Bournemouth have just reported a £3m profit. FGR will be sustainable in about 2254.

Isn't the whole point of FGR being "sustainable"?

Least they have to worry about electric bill.

Imagine how much they'd have made if they didn't have Jack Wilshere's medical bills to worry about.

I downloaded the FGR accounts from somewhere the other year. Can't remember where. I think there was a link in an article about how much money they were losing.

FGR made a loss every year from 2010 to 2015 (30 April). 5 1/2 years (the accounts for 2010 only cover 6 months - think they changed the financial year end). Turnover in that 5 1/2 year period totalled £4.7m. Losses totalled £8.8m. 186% of their total turnover! In the 12 months to 30/4/15 they lost £2.9m alone!

Don't have Town's accounts for the same period to hand but for 2015 and 2016 alone Town's turnover was £4.3m, i.e. nearly FIVE years of FGR's turnover. Combined losses for two years was under £20k. Accumulated losses since the Year Dot were £4.1m. Less than half what FGR ran up in 5 years!

They're not going to become profitable if they get promoted. The new ground will be a white elephant off a motorway with no hope of public transport. There's no way that's going to be sustainable or full. Then there's the waste of perfectly good resources through trashing the current ground which is not that old. Look how that compares to the Main Stand for sustainability!

It's a sham. It's not even 'greenwash'. It's a vanity project.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

But when 3 teams make it all the way to the end of the season, finish in the playoffs and then have to drop out it makes a mockery of the whole system. If there were safety concerns fair enough but this is about 500 covered seats!

Better they get blocked now rather than "promise" to have them in place for the new season, then fail to do so and then leaves the next seasons fixtures and league make up in tatters.
Hard for some clubs i suppose, the odd team that has a good season and potentially over achieves maybe wouldnt have had the time to invest in off field facilities....just have to look at how Cleethorpes Town are progressing at the moment....a few recent promotions, Vase final at Wembley coming up , but they play on what is effectively an old works social club pitch.
I am sure they have plans to progress and maybe whoever it is from them (Patto) who posts on here can comment regards their own future requirements if they progress any further.
