I liked the look of a few players.

Nathan Thomas at Hartlepool

Kyle Bennett at Portsmouth

John Marquis at Donny

Rueben Reid at Exeter

Charlie Wheeler at Exeter

Jobi McAnuff at Stevenage (he's played in the Prem, so should be good)

Charlie Wyke at Carlisle

Plus Dean Henderson and Omar Bogle

All those players looked better than this league.

None that have stuck firmly enough in my head to remember by name or which team they played for.
Overall i have been pretty disappointed regards the standard, yes players are definately more technically gifted and competent footballers but no real stand outs for me.
Most seasons in the conference there were a couple at least of real stand out performers, Akinde, Marsh Brown, Jolley, Vose, Marwood, Norwood, Gray all names that stick with me now as they seemed to be a level above.
This year i will struggle to be able name all 30+ players we have used never mind any of the opposition.

Dean Henderson, stood out like a sore thumb. Way too good for this level.

Portsmouth's Kyle Bennett sticks out in my mind, really small quick player who is excellent on the ball and ran things for them.

For us Henderson,Bogle,Vose,Collins

Best individual performance: Omar vs. Stevenage.

Best opposition player that I saw: Kyle Bennett for Portsmouth.

John Marquis score a hat-trick here and was voted Div 2 player of the season.

He took at least 1 goal very well and looked a threat throughput.  He was playing in a good team however, 3 goals is 3 goals.

Marquis didn't half dive around whenever he was touched, though. Did his darndest to get our players booked from the very start of the game.

Wyke for Carlisle looked very good at BP as I recall. Obviously too good for this division and he's doing pretty well since his move to Bratfud.

I haven't been to many home games this year, mainly work commitments but from the games I have seen, the latest one at home to Cambridge, I was very impressed by their no 16, he was the ginger lad who played the holding midfield role just in front of the back four. The view from the upper findus showed just how good he was. He protected the back four, was always there for the easy ball or at a breakdown for the second ball and could pass a ball and turn defence into attack. In short the kind of player we are crying out for, nothing against gunning but this guy was a class apart in the same position.  Be interesting to see if anyone else thought the same.

sign him up slade !!!!!!!

That bloke up front for Donny who got the HT

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

He made some kind of impression on you - he only came on as a 76th minute sub!

Best individual performance at BP was Omar against Stevenage, best Town player Henderson, most consistent Town player Danny Andrew, best non-Town player John Marquis, all of whom I don't expect (but hope) to see next season.

Yeah, Christian Burgess for me too.

Dominant, commanding but very calm too.

That said, he didn't strike me as that much better than Pearson or Collins.

I think he was a more composed and athletic defender than Pearson. That said Pompey should have better players than us, their budget must be 3 or 4 times the size od ours.

Just watched the Sky video of him tripping Danny Hylton of Luton after he scored that penalty. Funniest clip ever

Must say my favourite performance by anyone at BP this season was Steve Evans'! It was the single most entertaining period at a football match I have ever witness, one spectacular goal, the chants of "off, off, off" followed by "Hooray!" then the penalty and a Mansfield player getting sent off that nobody knew about.

Does anyone seriously think Dean will be here next season? Not a chance.
