I saw Webb has resigned as Orient manager. That means they will be appointing their 9th manager in 3 years. Now I know some fans have been complaining about Hurst and now Bignot (which astounds me given he has took over part way through a season, lost his start striker and has never managed in the FL), but surely this is an example of how a strong board and stability with management is the way forward. Orient were a penalty kick away from the championship and are now in real danger of becoming non-league. It would seem that their failure to get promotion that season meant expectations were far higher than they should have been and so the way forward is to have a turnover of managers to such a high degree, that they find themselves where they are now.
I believe a lot of the issues though are from higher up where the Chairman is wanting to pick the team. This clearly undermines the manager.
Seems a very similar fall from grace like town during the baron 00's. You have to feel for the fans.

I think you can swap 'in real danger of becoming non league' to 'nailed on to become non league'. Unfortunately I think they are in real danger of going out of existence, at least in their present guise. As a football fan I really hope not, but I fear the worst. If it does happen at least they can get rid of that nutter they have as an owner and start again, hopefully fan backed, and once again become the club they have been for many years. UTFM

They are down and will go one of two ways - 1. Bust 2. Someone else will take them over and theyll come back up in a couple of season.
You do wonder what the point of the fit and proper persons test needs to be strengthened on the back of this because what has gone on there is absolutely crazy

I agree 100% with the comments about managerial stability. In the real world, you never master a new job after a few weeks and yet this is expected in football.
I've been in a fairly responsible job for 3 years. In the first year I was full of all the things I'd do, but I didn't know the business and got some things right and some things wrong. Some colleagues I worked out how to work with and others took a while to know. Three years in, I'm still learning but I'd like to think I'm on my game.
The Board did the right thing to stick with Hurst. He got a lot of things right but also got a few things wrong. But he was getting nearer and nearer to one of the hardest goals in football.
We must do the same with Bignot, so long as we are making steps forward. He hasn't got it all right so far but he's only been in the job a few months. He might nail it next year but if we are there or thereabouts next season, he'll deserve another crack.
Stability and patience doesn't sound sexy but it's the best way to get long term success.

Agree I started a new job with a good level of responsibility & autonomy on Monday by 10am on that day my new boss told me to take my time to learn the role and understand the people who you work with "you will start to get success after a year if you do the right things daily"

When I was 3, I was at nursery singing 'old Mcdonald had a farm' and I thought to myself, 'instead of raising cows I wonder if there would be more money in the end product' ie: Selling the actual meat as burgers and the like. I got my Mum to help me write a letter to Mr Mcdonald with my idea. Never heard a thing back though. Shame really as I thought is was a good idea When I was 10, I started a paper round at a small corner newsagent called Smiths. It was run by two brothers, William and Harold. I remember suggesting to them it might be worth selling books and calendars and that sort of thing. I often wonder what happened to them ?
