Reading the article on the Telegraph website today, I figured a positive post was in order, amid what seems to be a bit of a mid-week lull!

I know he’s still got some bedding in to do, and elements of his game to work on, but I think Sam Jones is showing signs of being a potentially great signing for the club. Looks like he’s got goals in him (scored 3 in the last 5) despite not being a striker, is a positive player and not afraid to put the yards in.

He looks to be making the step up, and I’m looking forward to seeing him next season along with the likes of Jamey Osbourne, with the rest of the season to get up to speed and a full pre-season behind him.

Agreed, him and Osborne could make a very exciting duo, the adjustment needed is slow but sure though I also think the shin splint problem has held back Osborne a little. A bit of patience required but when fully fit and with some experience under their belt we should have a very hard working dynamic centre coming up.

I really like them both they look like they have good attitudes and can both play, as a fan you want to see the little money we have for transfers spent wisely and from what I have seen early signs are it has. Really looking forward to seeing them next season.

We should see both players improve next season.  They are still young enough anyway to continue their development.

Encouraging that they both have a good range of skills and are attack-minded. Just need to bring in others around them.

There is s lot to be positive for next season and beyond.  We saw with Omar how it took him a while to adapt to a higher level of play but once he did, he was unstoppable.

The inconsistent form and good first half/ poor second half form must be partly due to the number of players not used to playing full time league football,  either they have come from non league or U21/23/ reserve teams.

Those players kept on for next season will be more experienced, fitter and more resilient.  Although MB talked about play offs my sense is that he has always been more focused on the longer term, as his interview in today's Telegraph makes clear.

Sam could finish up as our season top scorer now Omar has gone.

Is it him and Callum both on 3?

Reads quite pathetic really, once Omar's goals are not being counted.

Jones certainly looks as though he has goals in him, but as he's clearly not a striker, I do wonder how we'll accommodate him in the team next season? I'd guess he could certainly play behind a front two but I'm not sure we will have the midfield next season to play as a three. Wouldn't surprise me to see him playing just behind a lone striker but this could leave us lacking numbers up front unless we get some very mobile wingers.
