Hi all, (sort of) exiled Town fan coming to Cleethorpes for the last day of the season with the missus. Stopping over. Looking for nice places to eat and drink. Like Indie/ Alternatve music. Recommendations please

Probably doing my town a disservice and hate to say it but Cleethorpes has very little to offer,  you'd be better staying in Hull ( if you can put up with the accent). The City of culture thing will be in full swing by then so should be lots of choice live bands etc.

I'd miss out Tale of Two if I were you. Awful decor and lighting and deafeningly loud when there are more than a handful of people in there due to the layout of the place. A pity, really, as I didn't mind the Riverside too much. Might be worth a visit if the weather is nice enough to stand/sit outside, I suppose. The Fisherman's Arms has just been renamed that from Dexters and I've not been in since the refurb, but it was quite pleasant as Dexters with some decent beer, so perhaps worth a try.

People's Bar is both microscopic and expensive and the food in Petit Delight isn't as good as they think it is...

Suggest you start at the Dolphin, move on to the Lifeboat and at closing time
wander down to the Winter Gardens. If no good, taxi to the Flamingo.

Forty-something years since I did it regularly and would recommend it to you
youngsters anytime.

Oh ! Hang on, my mate tells me things have changed - for the worse. Sorry.

Hearing Beato Burrito reminded me of the Flam. They always used to play La Bamba.

Anyway, not starting off at the Vic?

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

Swashy and Barcy

Went in the Swashy on Saturday night for the first time in years and it's like i'd never been away. Been done up a bit but still the same old Swashy, playing the same music with the same people dancing and the same drunks staggering about. Not been in the Barcy for yonks either and there never seems to be anyone in there when you walk past.

I don't find much to recommend for a night out in Meggies nowadays. Must be my age.

Studio is cheap and cheerful but ok for a beer and for cheesy pop music.  All age genders go there.
