Job advert requirements like that always make me laugh. As if people read it through thinking, yes I've got all those qualifications....oh excrement, but I'm not approachable or personable, I won't bother applying.

So....is developing an under 18 all about having the UEFA A license, being able to give mouth to mouth and not being a paedo ?
I would want an under 18 coach to have some footballing talent themselves and preferably be a former professional themselves to pass on skills, tricks, experience rather than just a text book coach.....or do we use that criteria when selecting a shortlist for interview ?
Without doubt all the safe guarding measures come first but my worry is can you pass the UEFA A without actually having to be able to control a football to any great degree ? Setting up drills, match analysis, tactics etc etc but at that level dont we want to nurture and improve personal skills ?

The problem is a lot of former pros have trouble coaching as they lack effective communication & engagement skills as they have been playing football all of their careers. I am not being sarcastic with this it's a recognised issue within sports coaching hence that is why coaching courses are constructed to give the attendee the skills to "plan - do - review" sessions which again is a process that some regardless of background fall down on. 15 - 18 is a really important age in all team sports as not only is it a key playing development stage it is when lads can become disengaged with playing sport at a serious level and often drift off. I reckon we just need someone who can inspire players to apply themselves to get better and provide an environment where they can/do regardless of background.

You know how it works Moosey. Those than do something well, do it. Those that can't, teach it 😉

| The wife was going away for a girly weekend. I jokingly remarked 'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football' 'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked She said 'Well you already know how to play football' |
