Does anyone know anything about this Extreme company or Alistair Gosling?
I am just wondering why they would invest in a football club.

Extreme leisure limited was dissolved several years ago. Unsure what company name they are using now but Mr Gosling is only a director of the chain and TV channel.

I did note an Extreme leisure construction firm had been created last year...

Are they investing in us or going into partnership with us so they get an ROI on the project and we get a new stadium, as far as I have seen they are not buying shares in GTFC or have I missed something?.

I don't know anything about them or their trading history but already people doubt their credibility. This is a slight concern bearing in mind it's the biggest infrastructure project this town as ever had in retail leisure housing combined. If anyone as done background on them I'd be pleased to read it

As far as I've read, Extreme are not investing as such. They are an enabling company for sports and entertainment with scores of irons in different fires. They have done the recruiting of designers and architects. They are supposed to have some developers lined up for the actual building (according to the GT the other week) of the houses and the stadium. I can't be @rsed to look it up but when the first plan came out I thought JF said it may be that they are involved in the procuring and running of ancillary stuff like events and stuff once the thing is completed.

That's the way I understand it, though I am still a bit vague on who will own the football ground part of the development, if GTFC are tenants that sounds a bit risky to me.

The people who buy the houses in the end. Housing developer will buy the land to build I guess..

Edit  1600 plots at say £30 to £40k a plot adds up to £48m to £64m, which are around the ball park figure of £55m stadium build costs..

If the council own it, it would depend on how favourable the lease terms are. Usually in these cases, unlike a private landlord such as Coventry City, the rent should only be nominal.and on a long term lease, because the council could not afford for the project to fail..

There are still many unanswered questions. These questions are precisely what I was on about on the formal planning thread but folks are so keen to get the thing done and believe everything will be hunky dory that they don't want to think of these things.

I would suggest Rob merges these two threads and everyone can see everything then.

I asked that at the fans forum. Nobody seems to know. My understanding is that "community" stadiums are usually owned by holding companies or the local council (eg Colchester's). So the football will not own it - something I am uneasy about but without Fenty or someone else spending their own millions it seems it is the only option.

It's amazing that Extreme have £250m from selling clothes in that tiny shop in Freshney Place.

As for who's paying for it to be built I heard that Chiquitos are interested in being an anchor tenant. Fenty says that we ARE getting a stadium and a Mexican restaurant is paying for it.

I have no problem with an alternative owner of the ground provided we have a decent deal from income generated and have to pay a peppercorn annual rent for the term of the lease?

Me too. But unless that owner is a mutual company set-up like the Trust, I suspect it won't happen like that.

if we dont own the ground then who gets the income ?  One of the main published arguments for leaving BP is that we cant generate income outside of a matchday.....if we have a facility that is running 7 days a week but we dont actually own it will we be any better off ?

The leisure, the ground etc are all just the smoke and mirrors for someone getting a big fat housing estate built which is where the money will be made.

They prefer Malibu 😉🍸🍸🍸

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Exactly.

I don't know why it has to be all smoke and mirrors on the key principles of who owns what and who gets what. If its not been agreed, at least in outline, I fear we will get planning permission then be in a position where it's extremely hard to turn down an offer on the table. The club board won't want to be seen at that stage saying 'no thanks' to the ground because we're not getting the income from non-matchday income. Then we'll be left with a debt/rent we can't afford.

If this is not the case and we have the income stream confirmed in principle, then what's stopping that clarification being made?
