Well that was short and not very sweet. Seems previous fans comments were correct.

Will have to be to non league i assume, unless someone comes in today or tomorrow.

Kayden Jacksons has been told that he can leave if Barnsley can find another club for him.

So that's Macca, Gowling, Mcalister, Disley, Chambers, Summerfield and Jackson all wanting to leave or being told they can leave.

I suspect Berret would have been on their as well if he wasn't injured.

Well that was obvious really.  Bringing in Osborne and Clements should tell us right away of MB's intentions in midfield.

I couldn't care less about Summerfield and Berrett, they were crazy signings by Hurst.  MB's obviously lost patience with McAllister too.  What I want to see is some commitment from MB to give Venney and Clifton a chance at the club.  Even if he sees them as benchers for now, at their age that would be fine, but I really hope they're given the chance to shine as opposed to simply being cut loose like so many have before them.  Admittedly I've seen very little of either, but they seem different to previous 1st/2nd year pros (by all accounts, Clifton is killing it down at Grantham).  I've really got my fingers crossed for them, it's about time we had some lads graduating to the 1st team.

It appears that McAllister's name has been circulated as a presumably short term loan signing to get some games under his belt following injury.

But regarding the other two, agreed.

This is odd.  Makes the decision to try and offload Disley even odder.

He's already told Disley and McAllister they can go so that was understood to be the trimming down of the squad.

If all 3 go that leaves us (taking into account the lads out on loan) with Maxwell, Comley, Osborne and Clements.  Plus Berrett who I don't expect to feature again for us.

Not a lot of back up or experience there at all.  Unless he's considering Davies and Gunning as serious midfielders?  Maxwell and Comley are young lads, Comley already had a wobble when he got tired before Xmas.  Osborne surely won't be expected to last 90 minutes every game having made the jump up from semi-pro to pro in mid-season?

It's not exactly that though is it? He wants Sean McAllister to go out on loan to get some game time following an extended period of injury and he wants Dis to leave when Dis wants to, rather than be kicked out in the summer when no-one is likely to want to take him at his age.

McAllister has been long term injured and he needs games now, lots of them. No point in him hanging about at BP for the odd reserve outing is it? His recovery needs testing in match situations. I don't think he is in the same bracket as some of the others, MB probably wants to see if he will make it back and will have him watched at a loan club. The same applies to Clifton & Venney. I'm guessing we should expect a decision on all 3 in April/May.

Mills can also play a central midfield role to some degree as well, of course.

Whether we want him to be playing there or not is a different matter as we should surely have enough specialists to play in the middle?

All very sensible and reasonable and if Dis and Josh do want and get early moves good luck to them in the future.

I would add though Dis could still feature strongly between now and seasons end, skilful, good in the air, pinches the odd important goal or two and rides tackles well to avoid injuries.

As for Summerfield, I think he'd actually be OK in a midfield three. Good energy, puts in a tackle or two, is generally a decent enough passer and his intermittent lapses in concentration are less likely to cost us with two other players alongside him. I seem to recall that Plymouth fans were saying he ran the game when we beat them 3-0 earlier in the season?

He obviously doesn't fit into Bignot's plans so I wish him well as he's always given his best that I can recall. Would probably be quite a useful player in the Conference so perhaps a move back to York would be a good one for him?

And he deserves nothing less!

The term legend gets thrown about too much these days, i see someone call Hearn it on twitter the other day, which is a bit much IMO

However Disley is most certainly a legend.

Grimsby Town TRANSFER NEWS - Marcus Bignot explains 'list' of players made available.

By Matt Dannatt  |  Posted: January 30, 2017

A MUTUAL agreement has been reached for Luke Summerfield to leave Grimsby Town either on loan or a free transfer, the Grimsby Telegraph understands.

The 29-year-old, who joined following his exit from York City in the summer, will be free to leave Blundell Park after discussions with boss Marcus Bignot and the Mariners board.

The latest revelation follows a dramatic weekend which saw a list of players who would apparently be allowed to leave Blundell Park this month circulated across social media.

Bignot has moved to add context to that list and explain the situations of those players who appeared on it, namely James McKeown, Josh Gowling, Craig Disley, Ashley Chambers and Sean McAllister.

Bignot insists it was his – and the club's – desire to hold on to McKeown and have him compete with Manchester United loanee Dean Henderson for the number one spot.

One unnamed club did express interest in McKeown – who has handed in a transfer request – however Bignot says they weren't prepared to agree a loan deal – which was Town's preference if he were to go out - or pay a transfer fee for the 27-year-old, who is under contract into next season.

Concerning McAllister, Bignot says his name was only circulated in the hope of finding the midfielder a loan deal to give him the game-time the boss feels he needs following his return to action from a troublesome groin injury.

With Disley, Bignot insists the club captain is happy at Blundell Park and would be an 'integral part' of this campaign, but admits he can't guarantee anything for the 35-year-old beyond that.

He said: "I've said to Dis that if there is an opportunity and you want that opportunity, then you can take it, but at the minute Dis is happy here and we are very happy to have him here.

"I know Dis and know how he feels about this club and he knows this club feels about him and that's what's important.

"With all the lads, I've tried to be fair, upfront and honest, because that's how I always wanted to be treated as a player."

Bignot went on to explain that Gowling and Chambers' names have been circulated as they are in the final year of their deals and because he can't guarantee their involvement beyond this season.

He says they have therefore been made available now – rather than at the end of their deals – in order to avoid them having to join 'the rat race' – as he put it – to earn a contract somewhere else in the summer.

The Mariners boss added that Town have asked Kayden Jackson's parent club Barnsley to circulate his name in order to find him games.

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

So Jackson, Gowling, Chambers, McKeown and Summerfield are going to go permanently

McAllister is going out on loan

And Dis is going nowhere, this is trulu bizarre conflicting reports again.

What's conflicting? The club have told us the situation and anything else is just speculation on the part of others. We now know who and what, just waiting for the where and when.

Also, Macca may not go at all if he has a rethink and changes his stance as the club have said they want him to stay and fight. Also Dis could go today or tomorrow if he get's the right deal, or he could stay until the end of the season, it's up to him.

So many players to manage... I get the impression that MB is a workaholic (I guess he had to be, back at Solihull, where he basically did everything).

It's a tough situation for all.

MB clearly thinks Osborne and Clements give us something that Summerfield, Disley, Berrett etc couldn't.

Similarly in defence, he feels Gunning over Gowling is a trade up.

Up front? Well, it's difficult to tell. Omar is the first name on the team sheet, but after that it's take your pick. He seems to appreciate Vernon but not rate Jackson. Yussuf was bought for a reason, and maybe Asante is insurance if/when Bogle goes.

Every time MB names his matchday squad of 18, he'll have at least half a dozen players who are used to being in the starting XI not even getting on the bench.

I feel for a few of them who are being told they can go when they haven't really got started here.

It's also funny how he acknowledges we're short on wingers but is happy for Chambers to leave. He hasn't torn up any trees, but without a ready made replacement it seems we're going to complete this season with either full-backs playing as wing backs, or central players 'doing a job' out wide.

It's probably wrong for me to say this, but I reckon play-offs are out of the question and next summer we might just start to see things settle down.

What with all these transfers and talks of loans/departures, everything is unsettled and I'm feeling a bit meh about what happens between now and the summer.

No mention of Vose then?

Someone mentioned that he was being given a try out at Gillingham, although I found that surprising.

I can see that McAllister needs game time to get back to being match fit but it doesn't sound too hopeful.

And Berrett - unmentioned or unmentionable?

How about a well done Marcus.
1. Tried to keep Macca, but if he wants to go, let it be on loan to end of season or we get a fee
2. Letting Jackson go back to Barnsley
3. Giving Disley options for Craig to decide
4. Agreeing to let McAllister to get game time on loan (with a full year next year to still be at GTFC)
5. Letting Summerfield, Gowling go-different situations, but the right decision.
6. Not sure about Chambers-works hard
7. Barrett-not sure, but not fit anyway
8. Vose - may still be a matchwinner from the bench.
9. Bolarinwa - still 2 1/2 years on contract and may get better

Lets all accept that Marcus is more qualified than us fans, and sees players most days. Let the dust settle and move forward.

At the minute we only have one natural winger at the club in Tom Bolarinwa and in my opinion (and clearly Bignot's) he's not up to playing for a team wanting to push towards the top end of league 2.

Then we've got players who can do a job out wide without it probably being their natural position. Vose and Berrett fit into this category, so with us being so little in numbers in those areas I'd be surprised to see them leave without any wingers brought in first.

James Berrett can still be a decent squad player for us. He can play anywhere across the midfield or behind a centre forward, he has plenty of FL experience and despite him having some very anonymous games, he has also performed well at times.

As for Vose, we've all debated his pros and cons until the cows came home. I still think he could hold the key of creativity in home games against stubborn defence minded teams.

"Falls to Arnold... Arnold! That's it! Thats it! He's sealed it! Grimsby Town are back in the football league!!! Just a minute to go and Nathan Arnold makes it 3-1! Look at the scenes behind the goal! Look at the relief! The agony is finally over!!!"

Vose was never on trial at Gillingham. Someone spotted a player training for them who looked a bit like him and put 2 and 2 together to get 5. Telegraph journos then confirmed he'd been training at Cheapside on the day in question.

I don't know how to quote from my phone but on the first page someone mentioned they'd like to see Venmey and Clifton given a chance... I'm sure he has them in mind, he's sent them out on loan for proper game time. If they do really well whilst they're out on loan then I'm sure they'll get some game time towards the end of the season if not before (IF they do really well.)

I don't know how to quote from my phone.....

Android? Me too! Can change to fishy v7 and the quote option reappears but then huge empty gaps show on every post so you end up forever scrolling.
Anyone?  (Sorry gone off topic but this has bugged me for ages as well!)

If by some miracle everyone goes out tomorrow perm or loan I make it that in mid field we will be left with for the rest of the season is,

Maxwell - Loanee
Comley -  Loanee
Osborne -  Clearly talented but unproven
Clements.- Should come good when fitter
Berrett - FFS!.
Bolarinwa - We need a winger for the other side
Vose - Loanee but looks like "Cameo's only" at the mo.

CDAJIMF
Gnning - Signed till the end of the season
Davis - FB 6 months left
Mills - FB longer term deal

Feels a funny mix to me have I missed anyone?

So Jackson, Gowling, Chambers, McKeown and Summerfield are going to go permanently

McAllister is going out on loan

And Dis is going nowhere, this is trulu bizarre conflicting reports again.

Luke Summerfield to leave Grimsby Town either on loan or a free transfer.

Missed this so is Dis staying or not? Whole thing is starting to feel a bit chaotic IMHO.

Good luck to him. Always gives his best and did some decent stuff at times, unfortunately mixed in with the odd sloppy pass or lack of concentration which seemed to cost us more often than not!

He will be back at the end of the season because he has another year on his contract,

If he does well for them he might get the chance to stay,

Good luck to him.

Good luck to him, not the worst midfielder i've seen but had the knack of playing some incredibly stupid passes without looking which cost us a few goals earlier in the season. Cheers Luke but we need better if we're to push on..

Not sure we ever really utilised him to his potential, i think in a three he could have been effective but played alot in odd formations alongside ineffective players so handicapped somewhat.
Was the one player who really caught the eye in pre season with goals and assists, shame it hasnt come off for him ,but we move onwards....UTM

Seems a good move all around, he needs to be where he's getting games and don't think he really has enough about him for this league. Can place a good shot and puts himself about but isn't so great on the ball and gives it away a lot. I reckon he'll get a few goals in the conference and won't get found out so easily by better teams who can take advantage of mistakes.

Good attacking player who always gave everything, would make crazy passes across the defence that would be anticipated usually giving away a goal or two, will be an excellent player in the National league where defences arn`t so cute. Good luck Luke

Good luck to him. No lack of effort, and he was better than most gave him credit for i think too. Made a few hospital balls that gave away possession in our own half but i reckon only one or two led to goals conceded. There are definitely others who made more errors leading directly to goals than him.

Respect to him for wanting to go out and play too, could have easily sat here picking up a wage for the next 18 months.

Guess our 'York' obsession is finally coming to an end, just Berret left. I'll be glad to see this blinkered approach to transfers  draw to a close as the long line of players Hurst signed from them haven't exactly been memorable.

He's poo, but he tried. We've had a few of them, Leary is one that springs to mind. A shocking signing by Hurst.

Good luck luke, good news all round i'd say as at that level I would expect him to have a positive impact and we need our wage bill cutting. At our level he was energetic but not good enough goin forward to outway his repeated errors. At national league level he'll probably be quite good. He's not going to be picked by MB ahead of osbourne and Jones and clements etc so needed to get away.

Both triers but very limited, both played for relegated teams. Fair game I say. Saw nothing but averageness from Luke, simply not a loss for me.

Leary was largely a non league player, yet Summerfield did well at Championship level according to Plymouth fans and also plenty of games at League one.
Tarnished by many for being relegated with York but too many high profile misplaced passes in a Town shirt and also, crucially for me, lacked physicality despite being reasonably sized for a centre mid

Never afraid to take responsibility of the ball, always offered himself for a pass and never hid in games like other midfielders we've had recently. Could look like a premier league midfielder one minute with a raking 50 yard pass, then the next minute look Sunday league with a ridiculous one. Could have been a squad player for me, but probably better off for him if he moves on. It does make me wonder what some of the bobbly muddy non league pitches will do for his passing though.

Good luck Luke.

Nothing against him personally, and hope he does well at Macclesfield.

But clearly our previous manager appeared to be running out of ideas, signings wise.

All about opinions but once the season started Summerfield looked miles away from what we needed.  Odd as in pre-season, as another posted said, he looked like one of our better signings.

Perhaps a victim of too many similar players in the midfield but as the season went on it became more and more evident that he was no better than the likes of Comley and Disley, I would even say Venney in a deeper midfield role.  The same could be said further forward in comparison to Vose and now Osborne and hopefully Jones.

Can't fault the lads effort and good to see he wants to go out and get games but I think we've seen in recent weeks what we need to move forward and unfortunately Summerfield doesn't fit that bill.

You mean when he lost his footing/slipped? Hardly a moment of shocking quality, just an unlucky slip. People will use anything as a stick to beat someone with if they don't like them.

Fair enough mate.

Just found it odd how loads of people used that free-kick/slip to batter him when he did it, but if it was a different player would've just laughed it off and said oh well can't be helped.

Someone else did it in either the Accrington or Blackpool game but it was forgotten.

Guess our 'York' obsession is finally coming to an end, just Berret left. I'll be glad to see this blinkered approach to transfers  draw to a close as the long line of players Hurst signed from them haven't exactly been memorable.

I think Luke was one of several players who Hurst signed last summer who were perhaps good enough to consolidate us a place in the mid to bottom half of League 2 but definitely not good enough if we wanted to progress.
