Easy save, average keeper... Can't for the life of me see why clubs in a higher league are after him 😉

"Falls to Arnold... Arnold! That's it! Thats it! He's sealed it! Grimsby Town are back in the football league!!! Just a minute to go and Nathan Arnold makes it 3-1! Look at the scenes behind the goal! Look at the relief! The agony is finally over!!!"

I thought we were supposed to be playing it it quickly from the back.
Why didn't he just catch it and roll it to one of our backs ?

I guess that's inexperience for you 😄

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Very noticeable how centrally he was positioned in the goal which gives him equal chance of reaching anything.... as opposed to setting the wall up to cover one side and standing offset which is the more traditional method....thinking back to the Donny and Pompey games in particular.
Henderson hardly moves until the ball is actually struck rather than being tempted to second guess and shift weight/move before hand.

A small detail but probably a crucial one on this occassion...hope Warrington takes note.

Erm, the free-kick was pretty much dead centre and we had 9 men in the wall! Why would you move such a massive wall to one side?

Slightly longer-range free-kicks to either side of the area would have a smaller wall and any keeper has to cover the other side of the goal when the wall is positioned in this manner.

It was certainly a good save, but let's not pretend there was some sort of crazy genius or out of the box thinking behind it!

McKeown was dead centrally positioned at Donny and so was the wall but the quality of strike was unstoppable

It's a very good save but to me two reasons that stop it from being a really great one.

First for a right footed player it was the wrong corner. He was actually starting the ball closer to the keeper and bending it away but in fact there was not that much swerve on the ball. The ball is actually helping the keeper because even a half hand on will deflect it wide.  A left footer (or right footer to the other corner) would bend the ball from outside the post round the keeper into the corner, it's more difficult but almost unstoppable when done right. If the keeper does get a hand on it that is more than likely only going to help it in the net. This is what Rooney did against Stoke yesterday but from an angle. The keeper had no chance.

The second thing is that there wasn't enough pace on the shot, it didn't zip up and down. More pace and a keeper would get there too late even with a great dive like Hendo's.

The term "good save" makes me laugh, can someone tell me what a "bad save" is if it stops the opposition scoring.
