I heard today from a source well connected to Town that Jamey Osborne came for a medical and dave moore had a concern with Jamey's dodgey ankle. They went for a second opinion with a women physio who helps town out on the side. She seems to think his ankle is fine but may need looking at in the summer.

This is the reason he hasn't signed yet. Apparently he should of signed back end of last week.

Just thought I'd share it!

Surely Marcus was aware of this when he approached his former club and player.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

He is signing, Dave just had concerns regarding his ankle that's why they asked for a second opinion.

not sure about this "gossip" the physios don't make any decisions like that regarding players injuries and whether to sign them or not it's down to professional medical staff i.e. doctors.
Trust me, I do have some knowledge in these matters!!

Are we any closer to getting promoted since Hurst has been here? No

Has he been given time to achieve promotion by the chairman and fans? Yes

Good try-you got some of them believing it--it doesn't work that way as you well know. A physio wouldn't check for injuries before a signing= if there was any doubt he would be down at the hospital having x-rays or scan

I think it would depend on the nature of the injury. Do we know anything about his injury record? With repeat ankle ligament injury there may be some fibrosis but, as you say, that would require an MRI scan to assess the extent of the soft tissue injury. But there's a lot of conjecture/hearsay here so it would be premature to comment-although I guess I just did!

That's what I thought, doctors do the medical as far as I know.
Having said that I'm sure Nicoles or whatever they call it now could massage his ankle back to normal........

I've heard that sort of massage causes stiffness initially, then the stiffness goes.

If Moore had a doubt about Osbourne's fitness surely the club would have advertised for a volunteer to check the player over? This going to a female physio is very far fetched imo

Chrisblor beat me to it. The lady physio is called Helen. She's a lovely lady and very good at her job. Town and especially Dave have wanted to employ her full time for a long time but couldn't afford to until we got back in the FL.. she's a bug town fan and originally from Grimsby (I think she's bought a house back in Grimsby again so spends most her time up their again now)

Reading the telewag it sounds like the player wants to come and step up into full time league football but Solihull are blocking. Hope this doesn't drag on too much 😐

I broke my leg in a practice match in Weelsby Woods and although my ankle was hanging to one side, they tried to get me up to play on. One week after having my plaster off and with the leg far thinner than the other, because they were short, I was persuaded to go in goal for my Sunday league team.

A bit of fiery jack on his test tickles, bad ankle or not and he could play like Pouton.

However by MB coming out in the media might force Solihull into letting him come to us. After all I'm sure they don't want a reputation at blocking career progressions in the future

Same as Town and Omar, we're not going to accept the first, second, third offer either hopefully. Let them hang out until both clubs agree a realistic price, he could be the difference between relegation or a mid table finish for them, similar to Bogle being the difference between potential playoffs or mid table/bottom half finish for us.

I defer, your correction is accurate and apposite.

Well I'm glad we had this discussion anyway. It was, I imagine, all bullshit as Bignot has said they can't agree a fee with Solihull. Pretty sure a player wouldn't be having a medical with us if his club don't want to sell him and haven't agreed a fee with us?

Honestly, I really don't want to bore you, but 'become' is a much more accurate word for that statement than 'getting'.
Just saying.

When asked whether we were close to a signing in yesterday's interview, MB said we were "close to a conclusion". Sounds like a deadline take it or leave it type situation.

We can always wait until the end of the season and go back if it doesn't happen now.

Good luck on that, seems the reason for all the trainees at Rotherham was for uis to find an alternative

Majed Osman would fit the bill but i'm not sure how much, if any game time he got. He wouldn't be battle hardened and ready to throw into the mix either if we were to pursue him.

By the sounds of things only Effiong impressed, who else did well, any of the defenders despite conceding three times

Are you basing that solely on the fact that he scored 2 goals and none of the others scored?

I'd also suggest that because we conceded 3 goals does not mean the defence weren't up to much. We have 11 players defending when we don't have the ball.

Regarding doctors and medicals ,am I the only person to recognize a certain Mr Howell - consultant orthopedic surgeon at the Diana Princess of Wales Hospital - in the old directors box at every match (and occasionally on the pitch to determine an injury). It's a fair bet he does the appraisals of new players.

I think the OP made this story up,

Nobody has a medical before a deal is agreed,

No deal has been agreed yet so no medical has taken place.

Nah wasn't made up just passing on "What I heard" It's up to you if you want to believe it or not. But the chap who told me with his connections has got it right before on signings and players leaving.

You are right, ive seen him at pretty much every home game for the past couple of seasons. He sits with the players who are not in the squad just in front of us while we're in the press box.

Used to sit next to Paul Hurst when Hursty used to watch the firest  half from the stands.
