So I've got a mate of mine who is a Pompey fan and he's travelling up tonight, staying in Brigg then heading to the game. He asked me what are the best fish and chips to eat in the area? I've always liked Ernie Becketts in Cleethorpes. Any ideas?

He's also asked what he can do to pass the time during the morning. I mentioned the Heritage Centre, but beyond that I guess there's not much to do regarding our town's history? Any ideas would be very welcome. oh and any pubs too

Fishing Heritage Centre is a good call a look round the docks then onto Steels and a drink in one of the CLPS pubs before heading to the game.

Heritage centre in the morning & on the trawler tour if possible, steels or Ocean bar in St Peters Ave for lunch, Collusium Picture theatre (weatherspoons) or the Notts for a beer or two.

Beckett's is great! If he wants a sit down meal though, i'd definitely tell him to go to Steels.

If you are on about the decor then you are right.
If you are on about the fish and chips you are wrong.

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Ernie Becketts has had a reputation of being good for quite a while and it's cheaper than Steels if you don't want to spend a ton on quality. Ocean bar think used to be Sutherlands? I remember it being good not been for a while. Probably want to avoid most places around the seafront/Alexandra Road especially Seaway

Steel's/Beckett's is like the NE Lincs version of Pepsi or Coca-Cola.

Ocean bar in St Peter's Ave, followed by a few beers either Willy's, Notts or under the clock on the train station
