Morning boys and girls,

After seeing the Grimsby team in Sweden on a pre season tour back in the 90's I've been following the fortunes on and off in many years , thought it was about time to pay Grimsby and Cleethorpe a visit in the new year ....

Years ago as a kid in the holidays I used to fish on what we called the car ferry slope Royal Dock and now and again a butter boat used to dock and the Danes always used to give us bacon, pastries and butter and we would give them any fish we caught usually whiting for their supper.Happy Days

Didn't Madness do a song about that place ??

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Suddenly I don't feel so alone, now there at least two of us in Denmark (plus Grimsby Petes family)

The most difficult part about visiting Grimsby and Cleethorpes is actually getting there - unless you fancy taking one of the cargo ships from Dk to Immingham (they have cabins but are surprisingly expensive). There are direct flights to Humberside - about one per week!! and only from Aalborg/Esbjerg (Sun Air I think). Once again - they are expensive.
Otherwise, there is Manchester (good train connection), Birmingham, Newcastle or somewhere like Luton (cheap with Ryan air).
Once there, get some proper fish and chips - much better than this Danish cr@p   . And the same is true of the bacon as all the good bacon is exported.
Velkommen til vores hyggeligt forum!
