There is a reason why animals are so delicious and a reason why we can use their skin and stuff.

Supporting the Mighty Mariners for over 30 years, home town club is were the heart and soul is and it's great to be a part of it.

Jesus’ disciple Peter, picked up a fish to get the tribute money from it, Jesus left his thumb print on the fish, bless'ed is the Haddock.

Quoted from Maringer
To be fair, it is a bit bloody stupid to include an organic ingredient in plastic banknotes which could potentially offend about 3 million people - I think it was reported that the tallow could be coming from either beef or pork.

Sounds as though they've just used the same formulation as the Aussies/Canadians/Anyone else with plastic notes so it's probably just a case that it hasn't been a consideration in the past as most of these countries probably have sodomist all in the way of an ethnic population in comparison to us.

Not keen on the new notes myself in any case. A bit too 'Toytown' for me.

I wouldn't bet on it.

I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

Well, specifically, I was thinking about those who would have problems with pork/beef products for religious reasons.

Looks as though the Aussies have a much smaller percentage of the population who are of these religions than us but Canada seems to be about the same.

Ah well, regardless, you wouldn't think you would get meat byproducts in a plastic banknote!

I must confess I am a veggie, I feel somewhat ashamed saying that as a Town fan, must confess to having a piece of haddock most times I get to Cleethorpes though (and want to add I detest village green rovers) so I am a veggie who does sin.  I think the whole putting animal products in the new fiver is plain daft.  I mean if it is such a small percentage why is it necessary when it will offend a large section of society, if it is made from either Cow or Pigs you are going to offend a religion and we do have a not inconsiderable population of veggies.  I do think this is a daft issue that could and should of been avoided.  And Grim74 the entire point of liberal democracy is that while the majority may decide most things, a minority never have their viewpoint ignored by the majority, an important principle to stand behind.

While I think this is daft to have done in the first place and I hope they will be more conscious of avoiding using animal products in the future, it is not that big of an issue.  Most car tires use animal products for example and I am not going to avoid cars or buses because of it.  I choose to avoid products of animal deaths where possible but am not going to get into a hissy fit about it and avoid the new fivers, just hope we make new ones without animal products in the future.
