Prepare for  lots of  Paul Hurst speculation, bit of a poisoned chalice to save Rotherham to be honest.

I wouldn't imagine Paul Hurst will be linked with this, do you?

If they want someone to preserve their championship status, they'll likely go for a proven championship manager. Too soon for Hurst and too big a leap. If Town were in their shoes, and John McDermott* had just got Rotherham into League 2, do you think we'd all be clamoring for him to be appointed? Doubt it.

They seem to think Steve Evans will be back until the end of the season - I hope so

Unsurprisingly Hurst has been linked by the bookies as 3rd favourite.

From Rotherham Advertiser website:

"KENNY Jackett has been heavily backed to take over from Alan Stubbs as the next Rotherham United manager.

The former Wolves boss was quickly made 4/7 favourite but was then backed down even further to 4/7 with sports specialist bookies BetVictor.

Steve Evans is 6/1 and Paul Hurst 8/1 – and they don’t fancy anyone else at this stage.

Said BetVictor pokesperson Jack Milner: “The market has already spoken in Jackett’s favour with the opening quote of 4/7 already taken by punters and BetVictor make him the 2/5 favourite to replace Alan Stubbs as Rotherham United’s next permanent manager.”

"Pound for pound, and class for class, the best football team I have seen in England since the war. In the league they were in they played football nobody else could play. Everything was measured, planned and perfected and you could not wish to see more entertaining football." Bill Shankly, Manager GTFC 1951-54

I reckon 8/1 are good odds: he'd be a more ambitious appointment than Jackett.  Don't want PH to go though.

Considering we seem to clamour for everyone with any previous association with the club, regardless of how tenuous that link is, I would say there's a high likelihood in such scenario.

Hurst has to see how he's  team develop this season and if he makes playoff go for the bigger job .

If Rotherham get relegated I think he should go for it if they want him ,hurst has the potential to be the next Eddie Howe , Rotherham have a bigger budget and fan base And close tto his home
