The amount of people that left today after their second goal went in is disgraceful.
Fair enough leave two minutes early to beat the traffic but 5 minutes+ injury time?

The team had just gone 2-0 down and need motivation, the fans could provide this by GETTING BEHIND THE PLAYERS in their time of need and helping them pull the game back. How the f*ck do you think a player feels when he sees hundreds upon thousands of people leaving at this time?

I'd much rather the plastic tw@s who think it is okay to leave early stay completely away rather than affect the team in this negative manner.

People leave in numbers when they think there is no point staying any longer, we were losing and rarely tested their keeper when they scored the 2nd. I don't leave early but I can see why others do so it's up to the players to make sure bums stay on seats.

I left early today! Half time in fact. Bloody gutted that I had to be at work for 1630.

I must admit I'm not a fan of leaving early. Perhaps if there's no effort going in but if town have put in a shift then whatever the result I'll still be there to clap them off at the end.

Well some people are driving or they want to get out the ground before the crowds pile up when there doesn't seem much to stay for. Some also probably want to avoid the final whistle and being a loser nobody likes the feeling of losing. I don't personally leave early by choice except in very rare cases, apart from being a kid and having to leave because my Dad wanted to the last game I walked out of was actually against Crewe when we had Tommy Forecast in goal and put in one of the worst performances I've ever had the misfortune of paying to see I left after their fourth goal went in.

I always have to leave early most games as I have to walk to Cleethorpes station for the 5.26 train. Even then it's gone 10.00 before I get home in Surrey. That's why it's a nuisance when someone gets injured and delays the game. But I do feel for them.

Rob, if it helps you I live 100yds from Grimsby Town station and drive to BP every game, if you want I will give you a lift to Town station.  Even in heavy traffic I usually get home by 5.15pm.That would save you having to rush off for the 5.26 out of Cleethorpes.

I stayed and clapped off the players from both sides as i enjoyed the game despite the result. I have no problems with people leaving early, it's their choice.

Well I am sorry that I paid for my season ticket which meant I had to stay for the full 90. I'll move closer instead of living 2 hours away so I can see us not score for 10 more minutes. Bore off.

If it means getting 4,000 instead of 5,000 the fickle fans should stay away, disgraceful scenes with ten minutes left and I even heard some twits booing.

We live 3 hours away but we usually stay to the end, main reason is that the last time we left early versus Gateshead a couple of seasons ago Dis got an equalizer in the last minute of injury time. Cloughie once said "it only takes a minute to score a goal " today though I think we where never going to score to be fair.

Mikey could'nt agree more, it would be the plastic fans who left early who just turn up for a visit to Wembley or the occasional away day urine-up

Agreed, I couldn't make it today but as also a season ticket holder I will leave when I want to, end of.

Bang on.

You wouldn't pay to watch a film at the cinema and then leave 5 minutes before the end would you?

I never ever leave early but I do always go and stand at the front in the 85th min and when I stand up I often get the group of men behind me saying behind my back I'm not a true fan because I always leave early, little do they know I just stand at the front, not actually leave the ground

It's not a proper comparison though is it really. Usually the hero comes good right at the end in a film.
2 - 0 down with 5 mins left and little hope of a comeback

That would be a great help as I really hate missing the end of the game. I will definitely be up for the Hartlepool game (can't miss the return of Podge and Toto) Any idea how we should meet up?

I use to sit on row A but people like you have forced me into a move back to row F. How disrespectful can you get? I'd paid good money for my season tickets and selfish fcukers like you blocked my view for the last 10 minutes. It's not big and it's not clever, grow up and stay at your seat or fcuk off out the ground.

My seat is near to a gangway in the Upper Whatsit stand and if we are attacking the Ponny, my view of the opponents goal is blocked by early leavers. I can understand people leaving early, but I too would like them to just go, not stop and stand in my way when something exciting happens on their way down.

I think I have only left early twice in 60 years of watching town. Yesterday was one of the occasions for two reasons. My wife and I had a golden wedding function to go to. (Not mine, that is next year)  and secondly I did not mind leaving because I was not enjoying the game and in any case I could not see there being a happy ending.

Hagrid I stand in the corner so I can quickly make a quick get away to my car to try and avoid being hemmed in and then stuck in traffic, I don't leave early, I don't stand in front of people, I simply stand in the corner then leave when the whistle blows, if we have won I stop to applaud the players, even when applauding the players I still get home like 15 mins earlier than if I stay in my seat

Perhaps you and Mikey should ask the club for a little desk near the exit so that those wanting to leave early can come and ask your permission. Perhaps you could also post on the Fishy a list of acceptable reasons and non-acceptable excuses.

On the other hand perhaps the pair of you should just grow up because although you might be entitled to think what you like, it is absolutely none of your business if someone wants or needs to leave a football ground after 85 minutes or after 5 minutes. Their money is a good as yours.

Look, it's none of your business to tell people what to think or what to do. Simple as that. You have an opinion. As it happens I would very rarely leave early from a game unless it was away at Rotherham or somewhere and I didn't fancy running the gauntlet to the car. But that's not the point. People can do what they want with their money and you have no right to tell them otherwise so just leave it alone and have a Sunday afternoon siesta.

Weren't people leaving early to get to the front of the queue for Mansfield tickets? If so it's totally understandable and their choice.
To the person saying 4k at home is better than 5k if they're gonna leave early, that is just idiotic, the revenue alone is invaluable to the club. I heard no booing, some people are only happy when moaning.

I think all of two people booed for a second then stopped because they realised nobody else was joining them, most people around me including myself clapped the players off the field accepting we'd lost to the better team on the day. The mental image of fans walking out then when the final whistle blows running back inside to boo is funny though.

Did they leave and then come running back in to boo, or did they boo as they were leaving?

Perhaps they got home and 'boo'd' on Twitter ??

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Ive always been amused by the leave early brigade. But yesterday, for probably only my second time in 30 years of supporting Town, I found myself joining them! On reflection its because I could see it was a lost cause once the second goal went in. To be honest I wish I can approach a game like ginnywings:

"I stayed and clapped off the players from both sides as i enjoyed the game despite the result".

Ive always been about the results, the points, but wish sometimes I can just appreciate a good game of football, or a good performance, even if its by the opposition. Yesterday I suppose I got too emotonally involved, expected too much, was greedy for the points and had a little paddy (But I didnt boo, in fact I didnt hear any boo's).

Don't get me wrong heppy, i was p*ssed off we lost and have had plenty of rants and moans over the last ten years at some of the dreadful happenings on the pitch, but i am determined to just enjoy the season after years in the wilderness and accept what comes. As long as we are in no danger of relegation, i'm going to enjoy the far better standard of football on show, even if it's from the opposition. There is a noticeable change this season i think as it's easier to accept defeat from a better side than it is from 11 massive plumbers and welders, whose sole purpose is to frustrate and win with gamesmanship and limited ability.

Dont in anyway take my post as a dig ginny, I genuinly do wish that sometimes I can just appreciate the football, than just hanker after the points. Yesterday at various points in the game I had my head in my hands, slapped my knees, tutted and exclaimed. The only thing I didnt do was get on my back and wave my hands and feet in the air whilst screaming. To be honest it was more out of dissapointment, as I had managed to kajole a few non regulars to come along, after convincing them of the virtues of Towns recent positive performances.

There was a bit of booing from behind me at half time but to be honest I thought that was aimed at the ref. No booing at all from the right hand side of the Pontoon goal at full time as far as I could hear.

If we can have a six page thread on the merits/demerits of leaving early then I reckon things in general are pretty much OK (which of course they are)

It intrigues me this 'beat the traffic' thing. Having spent most my adult life in the London suburbs being worried about traffic in north Cleethorpes would never cross my mind - I'd be a happy man if I faced bad traffic once a fortnight  . To be the traffic round here you'd have to leave the game around 6:30 AM.

Frustration with a performance, I get. Although the last time I left BP early was in the mid-80s. What a callow, spoiled youth I was - it was a bad performance against Sheff U in the Second Division.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.

As a lad in the late 50s I used to go and stand at the Cons Ave entrance for the last 5 minutes (along with a lot of others) ready to make a run for the bus stop at the whistle and get a seat on the football special to Riby Square.

She was never on the bus when I was, I would have noticed ..... I think.

I remember Golfer though, he always had the strap too low on his ticket machine and kept punching his willy with a ticket to the Bathing Pool.

Personal choice isn't it?

Leaving early isn't for me but people are free to do as they wish.  Those suggesting otherwise might do well to remove their head from their own arses.

the only game I've ever left early was Halifax away when we lost 4-0. that was mostly because I had some non-town supporting friends with me and couldnt force them to watch any more of that dross rather than get to the pub quicker. left with 5mins to go.

In my humble opinion one of the most cuntish posts I have read. Who the intercourse do you think you are?
Plastic twits? Really? At Blundell Park?
Hundreds upon thousands leaving eh?
And if these hundreds upon thousands choose to leave a few minutes early what the hell has it to do with you matey?

OK if you're anxious for some personal reason Rob like catching a bus or you can't walk well in a crowd or whatever.

But for most people it would have to be -

"Lower Smiths please. Make it at the end of the row ..... I know it's going to be a really crap game today so I want to leave early ."

I didn't mean that. If you have a seat near the exit you can leave on FT and get outside quickly. If you have a seat near the top of the stand it can take a long time to make your way down to the exit (unless you are young and sprightly and can vault over seats). Hence the need to leave early.

I actually think the problem at BP is minor compared to big stadia. At Wembley when I have been to England games people start streaming out on 80 mins whatever the score. I have not been to many Prem games but I wouldn't be surprised if it was similar there.

I left early (10 left in game), to get in the queue for Mansfield tickets.  It worked as I managed to get the 4 I needed
