I thought JF's interview was probably one of the best I have heard from him, 9/10.

I hope that this announcement now gets those minority of councilors on board, how could anyone stand in the way of an initial £55 million development and then an additional £200 million for affordable homes, something this area is in desperate need of.

Today is a good day, well done John.

Really good news for the Town. Im trying not to get too excited as there is a minimum of 3 years to go. But I've been following this saga for over 20 years so why shouldnt we all be excited?
Reading about Extreme Leisure, they appear to be a successful and progressive company so well done for getting them on board.

Seen a few suggestions for stadium designs. I came across Brighton and Hove Albion's AMEX (Falmer) stadium. A smaller capacity version of that would look fantastic. Its in a rural location as well.

Yeah, I noticed that as well.

I thought Fenty did a good job on the radio.  He might not be a polished, PR-prepped spin-merchant, but he wears his black and white heart on his sleeve and his enthusiasm and passion came across really well.

Picking out the main selling points, it's clear we need to pitch this to the NELincs public by citing the wider benefits and presenting it as much-needed investment to an area:

-  £55m investment into the local economy
-  1600 affordable homes so more opportunities for your kids and grandkids to get on the ladder
-  Sporting facilities for the whole community
-  Health, Education and business facilities
-  A landscaped park for the whole community
-  360 new jobs
-  Something positive for a Town that badly needs it after being the butt of jokes for too long

Get DeFreitarse to oppose all of that and he won't stand a chance in the court of public opinion.  Sure, a number of those living nearby won't want the change, but for lots of people, their objections won't be insurmountable and the developer will be well-practised at being able to overcome them in their plans.

Whilst I agree he did a good job it was filled with jargon that might make sense to some of us and people in the know but maybe not those who he is trying to win over. A stadium spokesperson/PR person would be a wise appointment.

Had to laugh when he said that there are some football grounds and cemeteries that co-habit already, though. Around the same time as the Bury/burry (and Burns' Bury might be more apt comment).

I would have thought the ice rink will be a eight figure construction so that will be a major part of the 55m
