That is the figure being bandied about as the fee Pogba's agent wants for brokering the deal.
Even at 1/4 of that it defies belief.  Juve and Manure are now arguing as to who should pay it. I really hope it stops the deal going ahead. Greed, absolute greed.

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Same agent is trying to sort a deal for Lukaku too.

I'm sure you quiz buffs (barra etc) will know the exact year.  But I seem to remember that answer to
'who is the top earning British Sportsman this year?' was actually the bloke who was Tiger Woods' Caddy !!!

What does the agent actually do?  Player wants to sign for club and club wants to sign player. What is it he's actually getting paid for?

(Serious question)

Few years ago, Tiger had a New Zealander called Steve Williams as his caddy and, at the time, Mr Williams earned more than any other New Zealand sportsman including the likes of Dan Carter

That is incredible. Was the main portion of his fee to keep his mouth shut?

Agent hawks his client around to other clubs, even though there's never a deal to be made, just to boost the price and wages up.  That's their major contribution.

Generally speaking a lot of footballers aren't the brightest sparks in the world so I can fully understand them taking in advisers to deal with contracts, wages etc.  At the highest level we're talking about image rights and things far too complicated for most people, never mind the likes of great brains such as Rio Ferdinand.  But intercourse me even half a brain cell would be enough to work out that you're better off employing a lawyer on an hourly rate to go through the finer details of the contract and a financial adviser to deal with the numbers.

At the lower levels the agent will act as a tout for business.  Speaking with managers and clubs, letting them know their player is available.  Unless you're a stand-out player I imagine the agent is absolutely essential these days just for their contacts and access to clubs.

I can understand a player needing one for his terms, but I always assumed (lazily, or naively!) that the agent took a cut of the player's contract. I don't get why or what clubs are paying for, particularly when it's one of the biggest name players in the world.
