Absolutely stunned at the relative ease in which we appear to have signed numerous players of high quality. Very impressed.

Credit has to go to Hurst for that.
Last manager we had who managed to attract players from all over the country was Russell Slade when he brought in players like Michael Reddy and Gary Jones here, despite no previous links with the area.
It's a rarity that our location has gone in our favour, in the cases of McAllister and Davies but the likes of Browne and (hopefully) Bolarinwa it can't have been an easy sell. Even for players who are semi-professional, stepping up to League Two isn't always financially beneficial - leaving the bright city lights of London will make it even more an obstacle.

Being a professional football player is a very privileged job always as been. Even here it is not easy to get a contract and some players just never really get the chance. Sometimes you see young kids with bags of talent but they fail to make the extra step up others start slow and become a really good player but for these lads if must feel great to play to a decent crowd especially away from home.

On the plus side it is somewhat cheaper to live in GY than it is in Sutton or London with average house prices between £400k - £700k. I saw one go up for sale last week in a excrement part of Hackney for £1.2m. last week and it wasn't even a nice Victorian house.

Cleethorpes is a nice seaside resort, Any player with a young family would not have to try very hard to convince their children to live here, Plus there are some lovely villages around Grimsby, We should do a video of all the nice area's of Grimsby and surrounding area's and show it to any player who have doubts of moving to the area. I live in a lovely area of Suffolk but would move back to the Grimsby area in a heartbeat, Just need a 3 year contract offer from the club first.

I never have believed that theory about nobody wanting to come. It is all about money and the status and ambition of the club concerned.
We are wealthier than last year and we are in the league. That's a big plus for potential signings. For good non-league players we represent now a genuine step up not just a possible one. For League players we are on a par with most clubs in L2 for budget but bigger than most in terms of fan base and reputation. We look like a club on the move.
Financially and football wise, times have changed from our last few league close seasons.
Hurst is doing well with his signings and he too must be relieved he's doing it in relatively comfortable circumstances compared to last year as well.

Stable management team also a big plus too IMO.
I wouldn't change jobs to move to a firm where there's a trigger happy CEO and regular vacancies...

Not sure how true but have seen on Twitter that Tom Bolarinwa and Moses Odubajo are brothers.
Location may have helped again

Spot on mate. Ive lived in London for a good few years now and you have to factor in the cost of living on top of the wages down here. Id rather live in GY any day of the week. If players are in a renting situation down here its a no brainer.
