We played them in pre season in our first year in the Conference I believe, lovely little ground, good pub outside. Very tempted to make the trip.

I think i might make the trip. Never been before. The oldest football club in the world is some claim to fame being formed in 1857 (over 20 years before the Mariners)

For others travelling there for the first time please note though, like GTFC, Sheffield FC do not play in their home town/city.   Their current ground is in Dronfield Derbyshire just south of Sheffield towards Chesterfield.

Here's my statto side coming out again...interestingly enough the world's 2nd oldest team is also Sheffield based. Hallam FC were formed in 1860. They do play in Sheffield at the oldest football ground in the world. I suppose its not that strange that the worlds 2 oldest clubs are from the same area as back then who else would you play. It makes sense.  That said what did Sheffield FC do for 3 years until Hallam FC came along?

The Coach and Horses outside the ground is an excellent pub run by Thornbridge (an excellent brewery)

It was the season after that to be honest - Scott & Hurst were in charge by then

Agree though....a very nice setting so could be tempted to go again too!

Sing 'campeones campeones, ole ole ole' for three years?

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

Agreed, the Coach and Horses is worth a visit (I also live locally)

I believe we won 2-0 last time (Pearson and Eagle ?). Not a bad game for a friendly
