Is it just me or is following Town the latest new fashion trend around the town?

The amount of people who are buzzing about the Mariners or simply taking an interest in the club is fantastic. I was sat in my car the other day outside Tesco with my shirt on and a random tapped on my window and starting saying about how he was going to more games this season. Customers of mine are telling me about there road trips planned for the season. Lads walking around town today shouting UTM when they see a Town shirt. It's brilliant.

The thing that pleases me the most though is the new generation of support. A few year back I was genuinely worried that we had lost a generation of support but seeing the amount of youngsters and teens going to games now and attending the open day, it's brilliant to see and long may it continue.

200 miles away but great to hear about this vibe.  Great for the town as well as Town - Grimsby is the butt of lots of cheap jokes and this team are restoring our pride.

Fantastic - just what we need a resurgence in passion for our club. Brilliant. I want to be there..... UTM

Its hard enough remembering my opinions without remembering my reasons for them!
Brisbane - beautiful one day and perfect the next! UTM!!!

I was at Butlins at weekend, my mate had Town top on. Some geezer in a Liverpool top shouted "Up The Mariners!" and a few random had a yarn with him about Town.

Hopefully the first comment shows it's becoming cool for the plastics to find a little place in their hearts for their hometown club?

Managed to convert my local guide in Guatemala to follow Town instead of Liverpool when I told him about Operation promotion and showed him some videos of our support.

The last time the whole Town really got behind the Mariners was the Buckley years. after the cup run of the 88-89 season it was as if we all new we was going to steam roller the league the next season.
Again that buzz got bigger and bigger and took us all the way to what is now the championship.

Around that time everyone was a Mariner.

One of the most enjoyable things about Towns match at Boston was a group of children in the seats , probably numbering around 15 or so... singing town songs and chanting... earned a round of applause from the standing  "senior " fans behind the goal... great to see a new generation of town fans....

At this rate we'll be attracting "plastics" from other towns

my complete and utterly uneducated guess was so spectacularly wrong I had to set it right, bit maybe not as accurately as you might like. My apartment to Blundell Park is 7,156 miles, as the crow flies. Bloody Hell, no wonder I have been so knackered all week.
Google Maps cleverly informs me it would take me 135 hours to drive (without bad traffic) and that there may well be some toll roads.

Update: 7155 to the Findus Stand using the new exact distance measuring tool so that means the previous distance had me somewhere near Reynolds St as it would have meant I overshot. Probably the GPS.

I was on a bus in Hull last night going through their city centre and saw only one Targers top...it got me thinking about how many Town tops you see out and about in comparison to that

Maybe it's now becoming more acceptable to show some pride in our club rather than run the gauntlet of being taunted by the plastics and you know what fashion trends are like...once it gets going, you find more and more want to be seen wearing the same clobber to fit in with the rest.

Hopefully we get off to a great start to the season and even more will be encouraged to proudly wear their black and white stripes whenever and wherever they can

I was in Skegvegas over the weekend in Wellies bar watching the Charity Shield in my town shirt. After about 15 mins some woman went past and shouted " Up the Mariners " and in the 2nd half a couple of blokes walked in. 1 came upto me, shook my hand and said " It was nice to see a proper football team in here "

Am out in Thailand with the wife for Xmas and New Year, so the true test will be to see if there's any fake Town tops on sale out there.

People that support Grimsby are true fans and not plastic glory hunters in my opinion .Makes me laugh when people who live down in London support Man Utd or Grimsby locals supporting Man u.You should support a team that you have some connection to be it area you live etc.

I am proud to tell people that I support Town wherever I am in the world, what I have noticed over the years is that "so called town fans" have give up and gone on to support other teams (premiership) because of where we are in the leagues, how can they be true fans?

I was walking through a town in Kenya a few years ago with a Town shirt on and one of the locals shouted "very good team" across to me. It was obvious he had no idea who we were and he was after the shirt itself or me to buy some tat at over the odds prices but it was nice all the same that even in remote towns in Africa people appreciate seeing a black and white striped shirt.

I bumped into a bunch of young lads at a festival last weekend from Stoke/Leek who were town fans. Said they'd been to an away match a couple of years back as a one-off and they enjoyed the atmosphere so much they've become regular town fans and get to plenty of aways each year!

Good bunch of lads & said I'd meet them at kiddy for a jar, if they're on here?
