The pricing encourages people to book in large groups. It takes a while to contact everyone in your group to see if they can make it. The crowd might be bigger than early indications suggest. While expensive it's less than it costs to watch a premier league game in London at most grounds.

Booking tickets is a marathon not a sprint. Be patient. There are enuogh seats for everybody.
We should not compare ourselves with Rovers sales to STHs. They will have far more STHs anyway.
Families and friends have to determine first how many seats they want together. Mon was a Bank Holiday with some people away. (Also need to sort out travel and maybe hotel arrangements at the same time and work out costs).

I will be booking mine at approximately 9:00 tomorrow morning, but shouldn't worry too much. Unlike the semi-finals we all know that we will be able to get tickets so can take our time to get the tickets we want. Also like Rob says many people will be buying bulk tickets, extended families coming down to support the team etc. so will take a few days to make those arrangements.
I think below 15,000 would be poor, 15,000 to 20,000 would be par and 20,000 and above would be good. Lets hope that all extended families can make up the numbers while those who always there can make the noise!

Like others have said, everyone knows there is no rush and it takes a while to check with family and friends about who wants tickets etc. There's no real reason for season ticket holders to rush in early - seems a bit of a waste of two days as the number of tickets available is vastly more than the number of ST holders.

Maybe so but my main point was that Bristol is nowhere near 10 times bigger than Grimsby. Do we not have Mariners fans in nearby Towns? e.g. Louth, Mablethorpe, Brigg, Barton, etc.etc.
Rovers are the smaller of the two Bristol clubs but still have a good chunk of population to attract fans from so it won't be any surprise when they sell a lot more tickets than us. Population-wise, we just don't have that many folk around here.

This all sounds familiar from 1998 when Northampton, with the huge backing of the rugby fans, sold twice as many tickets (40k) as little old GY and then were well and truly outshouted and outplayed.
If the players AND the fans need any more motivation than they've already got it's been handed on a plate.
It won't matter. They'll be less Town day trippers so a higher concentrate of Town fans who want to make an atmosphere of it and know the chants.
Also with our now regular Wembley trips a lot of people are quite happy to wait and buy their tickets later knowing they'll be enough of them to get the higher up seats.

I looked at both town and brizzies stats and there a couple of differences one being we have far better away record, secondly we scored more away gls than them.

I do think if the tickets had been sold at BP we'd have sold a significant amount more than we have already although it is worth bearing in mind that they have been restricted sales so far too.

The call lasted 8 minutes , I asked for Block 111 Row 38 seats 254 and 255 , which means they will be slap bang behind the goal directly behind the exit with a completely unrestricted view, no-one sat immediately in front of them... EXCELLENT !!!!!

Yes this game is more important than '98. But the club had more regulars back then. We couldn't sell out the playoff semi. There will be less - the fanbase is smaller, even the once-a-year fanclub is smaller.

I think it was around 28,000 Town fans as well. Bournemouth took more fans (35,000?) as they were much closer geographically. Overall attendance around 63,000. Towm fans also included supporters of others clubs out for a good day.
We still beat them.
Against Northampton 6 weeks later we understandably took fewer fans. The Cobblers took around 40,000 fans as they are just up the M1 from London.

No one is disputing the size of the game but I can understand why we might only take sub 20k. Tickets are vastly overpriced for what is a non league game of football. Food and drink in and around the stadium is priced at my weekly food shop plus the fuel/bus/train to get to London itself.
Grimsby is known to have a low wage so ultimately that will impact on several thousand fans who may want to go.
I am sure if everyone attended who wanted to attend (without consequence of work/money/kids or wife) we would sell out our allocation in a flash.
Regardless of how many fans are at the ground on the day or how many are watching on the Telebox we will all want the same result and we will all sing our throats dry!

I need to buy 15 tickets but it will only let me buy them is Block 115 or 117. If I reduce the number of tickets it does quote other blocks available so I presume there are still odd seats left in the other blocks.
Hopefully they'll start selling the 2nd tier seats soon as I'd much rather be in the 2nd tier rather than the lowest.

The site would only let me select a maximum of 13 category 1 tickets for some reason, but when I phoned up to order it was easy to order more. I got two blocks of 7 seats, one in front of the other.
On the phone for over 15 minutes so that would have cost me another quid or so, but probably worth the extra expense to get a choice where your seats are.

My opinion is that cost isn't too much of an issue, or it shouldn't be, just think. Actually getting tickets is too much messing about, I don't mind because I'm a fan, but the part time supporter probably can't be bothered ! It would be loads easier if you could just go down to the ground and get tickets !
Has it been that difficult to get tickets? Yes it's expensive but I went to the link earlier in this thread (or another), waited for the block I wanted then just ordered. Easy peesy for me.
Getting the tickets was easy enough for me, probably easier than making the trip up to BP and queuing up for ages. But i guess some people are stuck in their ways

Whilst the view is good in pretty much every seat at wembley, sitting in the upper tier doesn't seem such fun for a game like that. Ends up with a fragmented crowd and people too far away...
It's better all bunched up, better atmosphere and a better feeling IMO...

Were Torquay charging 31 or 36 quid for a ticket then? Pretty sure i paid around 16/18 quid on average for an away game entry this year, so this game is somewhere between 25 - 30 quid dearer than that before anyone leaves their house. A regular BP attendee who gets an early bird ticket pays 16 so they are paying minimum 25 quid more just for entry. Regular attendees have their normal travel methods and are used to the travel costs but a casual attendee may be suprised by paying 35-37 quid for a coach trip, a single man travelling alone maybe not an issue, throw in a son or daughter or two and the costs soon spiral.

That may be so but its a few pounds over a life of following a football club. Unless every stops going to football nothing will change. This trip to wembley will be no more expensive than one 17 years ago...

The cost isn't putting off most of the hardcore fans, but it is putting off a sizeable amount of the floating fans.
A very helpful chap has managed to get us 3 rows of 5 towards the back of block 110. Didn't really want to wait any longer for the 2nd tier tickets to come on sale as I need to get some of the tickets posted out to people myself and as has been mentioned block 110 should be a far better atmosphere than any 2nd tier block.

Don't they give the other teams in the Conference (incl North and South) a percentage? I can see the thinking behind it but it is a bit crap that we won't get as bigger cut as you would in say the League Two play off final. Although I'm sure Bristol Rovers will be drunk off that they'll lose some to us!
50% of income is shared between all other teams in our leage Except the champions. I'm guessing it's 20% to each finalist and 10% to the robbing illegitimates

Whatever the Grimsby following is, I certainly wont be embarrased. The Grimsby supporters (especially away) have been magnificent this season and have played their part in lifting the players, to get the results needed to get us to Wembley. Everyone will have there reason for attending / not attending. But whoever does attend i'm sure will be full of passion for this great club and will sing their hearts out for the Mighty Mariners!

I can see the novelty value off Wembley wearing off for "fair-weather" fans. The overall costs are high as well for a family. Great temptation to just watch it on TV.
My neice is not going with other close family members as she will in the middle of her GCSEs. She has been to the new Wembley for the 2 previous matches. Her mum is not going either.
All the reasons identified for fans not attending add up to a lower following. The keen fans will be there anyway.

I've done as you suggest (subtlely!) I only wish we had sold as many tickets as this thread has had views! I just wanted to try and persuade everyone to empty their piggy-banks and get to Wembley.
We do have to remember Bristol is a huge area compared to Grimsby! Anyhow, I know we will be the fans singing throughout making the loudest noise! UTM!

He also came to the Wrexham Wembley game so is a glutton for punishment and freezzng weather.
Just tried to get them but not available, just got mine row 43 behind the goal, saved me £15 not having the option of better cat tickets. On the phone they wouldn't offer me anything but row 5, told them I was only 5' tall and wouldn't see over the fence but it made no difference so went online and after a couple of goes got some height.
Just got mine through the post this morning. not that fussed that we're going to be outnumbered. It's still looking like it's going to be the highest ever attendance for a conference play-off final (over 42,000), so even if it's not us making the noise, there will still be a good atmosphere. just hope the 30 odd thousand Bristol fans are the ones with frowns on the tube on the way home at 4 o'clock. Can't get the image of Cheltenham coaches and cars on the way back from Cardiff out of my head. was a long journey home that day. lets get the Poznan and the bouncy bouncy's well and truely going next Sunday. I might have hoped that a few more offers were posted on the car sharing thread for lifts to Wembley. That would add a few more and give a helping hand to those who are struggling struggling to get the money together for the trip.

There's 10 of us going - including two Germans, flying in from Frankfurt/Offenbach - so that's +10. We'll hit 15,000 yet! Should be a great day out either way! Fair play to Brizzle Rovers who have sold 21,500. Cracking support for the Conference and division 5 football across the world.

When I go on the website it is showing that I can only select seats from 5 blocks. (109, 110, 113, 114 and 115). Fingers crossed we can get that down to 3 blocks by Monday and hopefully sell out the whole lower tier by next week. UTM

So the Bristol press are reporting 34k tickets sold and rising, and we have supposedly sold around 10k, buts lets not forget Bristol is a city of 450k, and North East Lincs only 150k. The games played on the pitch, not the stands, who really gives a toss how many go, its the result we want. UTM

I was planning on doing that because when I was trying to book 15 tickets online it was only letting me pick 2 sections in the corner but I rang them up and a very helpful chap managed to find 3 rows together with 5 seats in towards the back of Block 110 behind the goal. I rang the 0115 number too and got straight through after the recorded message that you get.

Just got 4 tickets for me and the Mrs plus the two kids.
I am not worried in the slightest about Rovers outnumbering us. I remember the play off final in 98 against Northampton which was similar. They came from all over Northants to support them, but we still did em.
I don't care how many we take, more fans doesn't equal promotion. All I know is I'm going and I'll be surrounded by others seeing there team get promoted and back to where we belong. UTM!

I did it for trophy final and got second tier along with some other 10 blocks or so... Are we expecting less for the play offs than we took to the trophy game?
Some of the fun for me is keeping a eye on ticket sales (Wembley games) but it seems we are not allowed to know such information nowadays in the dog and duck

The reason for that was because the Windscreens game was three weeks before the play off and it was also our first ever apearance at Wembley

Agree with this, the Wrexham game in particular was a pretty cold and miserable experience. Unfortunately this is by far the biggest game we've had at Wembley since 1998. I appreciate some people can't afford it and they have my total sympathy but there are a lot of others who call themselves fans but aren't willing to make the effort when it matters. The game's not won in the stands but it certainly plays a big part (we've been saying that all season so can't really change our tune now).
34303. So about 17k each end but I think they are giving 6000 tickets to neutrals. So there will be around 14k available for Town fans in the lower tier.
Money has to be the limiting factor, plus the ordering process doesn't suit everyone. The FAT was a lot cheaper at £30 per ticket, with £15 for all concessions, plus you could buy them from the club rather than online or by phone.
The Conference just aren't very good at marketing the final tickets. Wimbledon v Luton in 2011 has just over 18,000 which is pathetic when both clubs are in or very close to London and well supported. Last year Cambridge v Gateshead only had 19,000 - again a poor crowd considering both teams are close to large centres of population with good transport links to London.
North Ferriby took 3000 to the FAT. I think the FA are just better at organising and pricing these occasions.

Surely the fact its on TV is the biggest influence, previously if you wanted to see Town at Wembley you had to go, so if your not an avid fan why pay out about £100 to go all that way when you can sit at home or go to the pub & watch it. Me, I'll be there I wouldn't miss it for the world. UTM

Why bother going to home games? The highlights are available a few hours after the game.
This is what annoys me about modern football supporting. For a year's subscription to Sky Sports / BT you could easily get to Wembley. Going to watch it in the pub isn't exactly cheap either. For some people money is the problem and that's fair enough but for others it's apathy and laziness. Never thought town would have so many armchair fans!

if money wasn't an issue and there were no serious/reasonable reason, then would you even class them as a fan? I couldn't dream of missing this game.
It surprises me that after a season of fantastic away support we're probably not going to take as many to Wembley as I thought we would. Let's face it, when we took loads to Chester and Dover etc and took the whole of Alfreton over for the day we were very proud of the numbers turning out. We have a great away support who make a lot of noise.
I'm not going to come on here berating those who can't afford to make the trip - I understand that. But, I am nonetheless a little bit disappointment that we probably won't take 15,000. It's going to be a great day out for all those who attend and I'm going to enjoy Trafalgar Square, The Globe, Tattershall Castle or wherever I find other Town fans.

One thing I have noticed working in and around Town is that there are more arm chair Liverpool, Man Utd and Chelsea fans who won't be going this time that went twice before when AB was in charge. When I ask why, they say 5th tier football, they just shrug their shoulders when I say, that this is as important a match, as any in our history.
We will still take more to a 5th tier play off match than Scunny took to a 3rd tier match when they got into the Championship!

I think there might be a small increase in sales once the cat 2 tickets reach the second tier, people waiting to go higher up (hopefully!) If we can sell the lower tier then that's ok.

We probably have about 10,000 people max who actually go to at least one game a season so I can't see what the fuss is about, most of them are going. We'll probably take 15,000 which is more than 90% of the teams who have taken part in this match ever have done. It's only the fact that we are playing a team with a much larger support than us that makes our crowd look small. Two years ago Wrexham v Newport only 16000 people went.

Every time we've been to Wembley we've had less fans than the opposition not that it really matters , but with sensible pricing maybe having the game on a day when travel is easier (Saturday) I think our support could of got nearer 20 k.
Strange, after showing no lower tier tickets available yesterday evening the See Tickets site is showing 7 different lower tier blocks still available this morning.

Category 1 have been sold out for a couple of days now Gary. Last night it was showing no Category 2 tickets available but this morning there seems to be more Blocks available than there has been for a few days.

2) Surely you go to a play off final to support your team not to watch entertaining football? No matter what Sky tells us you get good and bad games at all levels, especially in play off finals. This town team aren't as entertaining as sides from the past but they're certainly better to watch than some of the dross we've had. For their effort this season I think they deserve better support in our biggest game for nearly a decade.
I used my brain and added the two ratios to make 3.4. Divided the total by 34 and then multiplied by 10 to give us 11,800 odd. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

As I have already stated on here, I think less than 15,000 (which looks very likely now) will be disappointing. No point in getting angry like some seem to be - people will do what they need to and want to - it's just after the season we've had I just thought there would be quite a few more.
I would advise people who haven't got their tickets yet to get them as soon as. I ordered at 0930 last Tuesday and they arrived on Friday. Might be cutting it a bit fine if you're wanting them delivered.

28,394 (BRFC) 11,830 (GTFC) With some making a late rush and some collecting tickets on the day, I can see us having around 32K-35K and Grimsby having 15K-18K. That would make 47K-53K, add on the nuetrals, say 5K, 52K-58K. That is impressive for this league. I'm probably going to be wrong but it's fun to guess.
Someone on twitter bought 41 tickets today so that's boosted the numbers slightly . As others have said, I think a fair few are waiting for the second tier and some might not have seen the need to rush to get them just yet. I still think we'll take over 15k.
And anyway, who cares how many we take? We'll still make more noise than any other team that's been in the conference play off final before us if the semi finals were anything to go off.

I can't see what all the fuss is about,with people wanting us to have as big a following as Rovers. When you stop to think about it we played our best football away from home this season.We have had a fantastic away following again and apart from the game at Alfreton, where we well out numbered the home fans, all the other away games the home teams have out numbered us but everywhere we've been we have out sang and chanted ten times louder than the home supporters. No reason we can't do this on sunday. The Teams good enough to win and the support we give them is excellent and we will be the 12th man. We can do it,it's our year..
I just rang to try and book 5 tickets (0950 hrs) for Tier 2. They still want to sell all Tier 1 tickets first before selling any tier 2 tickets.
I asked the operator when he thought Tier 2 tickets would be available? He thought Wed or Thu but did not know how Town fans tickets were selling. (I do not think that he could tell me anything new).
He did confirm that tickets can be picked up on the day at Wembley. This is usually from early of the day of the match. This helps "late-bookers" who take a risk on Tier 2 tickets ever becoming available.
The whiteboard in the Town dressing room isn't going have a seating plan on it. If it came to hand to hand combat we'd take heavy casualties but it's 11 v 11 on the pitch that matters.
2) Surely you go to a play off final to support your team not to watch entertaining football? No matter what Sky tells us you get good and bad games at all levels, especially in play off finals. This town team aren't as entertaining as sides from the past but they're certainly better to watch than some of the dross we've had. Since 98 we have had a general downward trend in our level of playing and success, 17yrs is along time in football, a lost generation pretty much, the young lads 17-20yrs have arguably seen an upward trend in their time, slowly moving up the table and some Wembley appearances to get excited about. For anyone over 30 they have probably witnessed at least ten years of fast decline and if they have stuck with it, a slow rise position wise but still without definitive success. As for myself mid 40's i have seen promotions, championships, trophy final victories, play off final victories, big cup scalps, beautiful football tempered with indifferent seasons inbetween and relegations and some of the worst players and managers in our history. All of the above leads to the present day, 17 yrs without any kind of tangible success, or bluntly 17 yrs of failure, if i feel this way then i am sure others do, i know other people of my age who either dont go anymore as the love has been bludgeoned out of them or they still go but struggle to raise any real enthusiasm. When you have seen some of the class players, world class in some opposition cases, on the BP turf in your lifetime it is very difficult to feel genuinely excited when a current player manages to complete a 15 yd pass with some regularity. Shoul be a pretty good attendance then. If we can get to 50-odd thousand between the two clubs that would represent a very impressive turnout for the 5th tier of English football.
League One play-off final attendance last season between Leyton Orient (a London club!) and Rotherham was just 43,401. League Two play-off final attendance was a pretty poor 14,000 and Cambridge/Gateshead managed just 19,000 in the Conference.
Unfortunately, it isn't going to influence the authorities to provide another promotion/relegation spot between League Two and the Conference which would be very fair.

The voucher system is a good idea but it was not well explained. We sold just 18 tickets, we could have sold far more than that had it been properly marketed as the potential saving is huge for the supporter and the club gain too. Fans can and do mix at lots of grounds in this division, we've shown we can do it. I have been to the Challenge Cup final before and it works well at Wembley.

It seems we've sold c.12,000 so far. I think we need to shift c.16-17,000 tickets before tier 2 sales open up again. I hope that happens but it might not.
So rather than risk leaving it late and having a limited choice in the lower tier, I got 3 seats on row 44 (back row) lower tier. I'm happy with that.

When we first got relegated I was told that the Conference had something like 3 employees. That isnt just the Conference Premier but includes North & south! These included a secretary!

To be honest that doesn't surprise.
3, 300 or 3,000 employees they should be able to address the basic issues.
It's easy for me to say I don't think this final should be played at Wembley. I follow a club who have been twice in the last 7 years and our relative size/strength in leagues from League One downwards means we'll always be in with a chance thanks to the fact that every bloody egg and spoon race is played there these days. I think it's great when clubs get their chance to play at Wembley as seeing your club run out there for the first time is really something to treasure, but A) it's devaluing the magic, B) it looks crap when the stadium is half empty and you're rattling about and C) it just is not financially viable now.

Less than 20,000 in the last two years. Even the higher gates would all fit into 7 club stadiums (Old Trafford, Emirates, St James' Park, Stadium of Light, Anfield and Villa Park). Just short of the maximum 2010 turn-out but well ahead of the average of 31,707 are Stamford Bridge, Goodison Park, Hillsborough, Elland Road, White Hart Lane, Upton Park, Riverside, Pride Park, Cardiff City Stadium, Bramall Lane, St Mary's, King Power and Ricoh. Molineux is 7 short.
Within that list you've got an absolute shed load of options. Fair enough places like St Mary's and St James' are too far either way in terms of geography but either Manchester stadium would be perfect. If there's the need for it to be central Villa Park would be absolutely perfect.
Even this year with the two highest supported clubs in the league in the final, they're going to be over the Villa Park capacity would still comfortably fit in Old Trafford.
The problem is the Premier League is still ongoing when we play our final. I'd prefer the final being played at the home of the highest placed team as used in Conference North/South final.That would encourage more people to get season tickets and join the Trust to ensure they qualified for a ticket.

Some people like myself can't get a season ticket due to being a shift worker and working 3 Saturdays a month so how would that be fair Rob?
I've just bought three tickets in block 224 in the Second Tier. O/S claims there are only 100 odd tickets left in the lower tier. Does this mean we have sold 16k?

I mean from a football point of view. The play-offs are a grossly unfair way to gain promotion. Every possible advantage should be given to the side which finished highest. In the US they give home-field advantage to the highest placed team. Likewise in Super League.

It's about three times our average home gate this season and still rising. Hardly shocking. Can't see why peeps are getting stressed about how many we are taking.
totally agree. I guess it's just because BR are going to take a lot more. There's no need to turn everything in to a battle. They've won that one and were always going to. If we were playing FGR then we'd all be moaning about the likely lack of atmosphere. I think 15k would be pretty good personally.

The trouble with floaters is that once they are out in numbers they are quite hard to get rid of.

First off the Trophy although in the end was live on TV it wasn't scheduled to be at the time the tickets were sold, secondly I would still maintain that not being able to buy the tickets originally from BP have put quite a few off, I know they can now but it is leaving it late to make arrangements.

I just can't understand how we can take 18k to Wembley for a meaningless fa trophy game yet we might just get close to 15k for the most important game for grimsby town in recent years.

It had been a few years since we'd been to Wembley last time. My Mrs wanted to go last time, she's not a football fan and isn't bothered about going this time. Let's face it, the attendance is only a number. If you're a real fan you're going to be there and that's where all the noise comes from.

Here's an idea: they could send the tickets for the two competing teams to the competing team's ticket offices for them to sell and then use See Tickets for any neutral sales. Too simple and not as easy to fleece people I suppose.

The biggest member up here is giving the 'neutrals' some of the best seats in the house which has presumably lead some Rovers fans to chancing their arm and getting away with it. The neutral fans shouldnt take precedence over the fans of the teams going.
Those who bought £10 vouchers should surely be given the worst seats, not those paying £40.

Their coach travel is 20 adults 15 kids ours is around 35 they can get trains into London same day and home we can't overall 13k might stretch into 14 isnt a bad turnout all things considered

Given cost, travel issues, early kick off, relative affluence and perennial disappointment, I think 13,000 is a good effort. I did expect more, but when you look at it, not so bad really.

I think it's quite telling that on the Gashead forum there is a thread asking who would like to share in a hospitality/box experience. Apparently the box works out at £165 per person. Not my cup of tea but I suppose if you've got the money fair dues.
The thread has been met with enthusiasm and also has quite a lot of expressions of interest. I just wondered what the response might have been if a similar post had gone on the fishy.
I am in the fortunate position of being able to afford to buy a ticket for myself and family, pay for the travel etc. The total cost of this trip (fees aside and all that argument)is clearly going to exclude a lot of Town's most faithful. It is a shame that everyone who wants to go probably can't and many more are making huge sacrifices in their determination to make it.

I think you're wrong there, I think the vast majority of the diehards will be there, of course. It'll be the daytrippers who probably last went to a Town game the last time we were at Wembley that it will have put off.

Even if you do the trip in a day you're probably not going to see too much change from £120, especially with a few sherberts thrown in. In these times 120 quid is nothing to some and a huge amount to many.

Maybe I'm just living in my own little bubble but I felt that there would have been a bit more car sharing going on or even moves to arrange a subsidised coach or two to help people out. I know it is a big game and large numbers ARE interested but just not going to Wembly. Several reasons compared with the FA Trophy. The novelty of Wembly not enough in itself now, the game is live on TV, the cost of the trip and the fact that online ticket purchasing was the only option until very recently. However it is what happens on the pitch that matters and on that issue we will come out on top. However you are supporting the team have a great day.

I certainly kept reading "over 12k" for us all week all over social media. Telling me only a handful of tickets have been sold since Monday? Doesn't seem quite right to me.

You're right - people are not that bothered. But the 12,500 who are going clearly are. I remember what '98 was like and this so much bigger for me and I think it is for all going. The Wrexham thing barely raised my pulse and I went.
It is a bit disappointing that fewer than might be expected are going but the excitement of this is fantastic. To every Grimbarian who would declare they support Man U or Liverpool or whoever, who buy the shirt, who go twice a year to Old Trafford - I say more fool you. My joy will be immense if we do this.
It's pretty obvious why the numbers are so low. We have a core fan base of about 3500-4000 who attend most games. We went to wembley against wrexham and I along with others would have gone with big groups of mates etc. I took about 10 with me vs wrexham because it was a first wembley appearance in awhile and we were all buzzing! Couple of years later it's not as big of a deal to go AGAIN. Therefore of my original group of 10 only 3 of us are going this year. So it's just a case of less of the families and so called glory supporters/day trippers have not bothered this year compared to back against wrexham. Obviously a few other minor factors are involved.

Might help in a way, we know the 12500 who are there are all true Town fans and this means a lot to them. That way, we're all more likely to sing. Smaller numbers but all together, not dispersed among day trippers means we should be able to make one hell of a racket.

Surely any body who is going to the game to support Grimsby is a fan. The average crowd at Blundell Park is 3 to 4k and will hopefully go up to 4 to 5k if we get promoted so what people are saying is the majority of fans going to Wembley aren't true Grimsby fans. Also because a fan isn't able to make the game it doesn't mean they support Grimsby Town any less than any other fan. Just get over the amount of fans that are or aren't going and enjoy the weekend.
My main reason for going is to try and find my balderdash that froze off at the Wrexham game. If someone else does find them, let me know so I can pop them back in.

Compared to years gone by its a big crowd for this particular final, the FAT is a lot cheaper to attend. Its a less important game to people who follow football regularly but for those who dont all that matters is that someone goes up the steps and lifts some sort of trophy. Most of the hardcore supporters will be there. The missing thousands wouldn't have made much noise anyway.

Loads of seats left in the lower, try to buy some on see tickets, they are available all over the place
Wembley finals usually include fans from other clubs. Eg the 7 Exeter fans mentioned above. I have persuaded a Spurs fan to come with us from York. He has already been to a few Town home games and came to the Wrxham final.
For the first 1998 Wembley match, I know that a lot of fans from other clubs came for the day out and supported Town.
These neutrals artificially the large Town followings at Wembley. So it is unfair to say "where are all these fans who went to Wembley" when the next home game has a much reduced home attendance.

Regardless of how many we and Rovers have sold what is blatantly obvious to all but those muppets at the FA, is that both clubs would have sold more if the respective clubs sold those tickets and not some rip off booking agency.

admittedly i agree the turnout is very poor. But looking at it positively atleast we'll have more regulars closer togethrer 'snuggled in' to create a brilliant atmosphere for the team. So although i'm disappointed in numbers i do think we'll have a better atmosphere this way.

Sorry, didn't mean to offend. What I meant was, due to the price and novelty factor wearing off, the fans that have forked out for the game are probably a lot keener than day trippers who have been before and don't fancy it this time round. I'm well aware that there'll be some true Town fans who can't make it for whatever reason, we'll just have to sing all the louder for you.
Seem a few on here are beating ourselves up about the 'disappointing' turn out from GTFC fans at Wembley, i just did a bit of research on this that shows perhaps its not too bad after all.
Bristol has a population of 437,500 (not taking into account nearby large population areas) and for the sake of argument say 50% of that would support Brizzle City) that gives 218750 Rovers fans - IF they take 32000 to Wembley (a big if IMO) that would equate to 14.62% - the distance Bristol to London is 117.8 Miles an easy run along the M4.
Grimsby and Clee has a population of 127748 with not so many large population areas nearby - if we take 14000 tomorrow that equates to almost 11% Grimsby to London is 199 miles - an extra 81.2 miles to travel.
Of course this is not exact science but it does show that although Brizzle probably have taken a higher percentage, taking into account the extra distance to travel for GTFC fans must mean that the difference is minimum.
So be loud and proud GTFC fans - we have great support.

We are still taking more for a 5th tier play off final than the Scunts did for a League 1 play off final and that was without the ticket fiasco we have currently faced.

Was in the club shop this morning (must add new shirts are better in the flesh) and there were people going in and trying to buy tickets for tomorrow. Club shop staff stated you can pay on the day but wondering if that would put some potential fans off....
I've just emailed SeeTickets to let them know my tickets that were apparently despatched on Monday did not arrive so I have the hassle of going to pick up reprints at the stadium tomorrow. If they dont arrive in the future I will be asking for the postage fee back.

I'm currently unemployed, worked over 18 years full-time. I've got plenty of money in the bank from when I was working, but while not working I can't put myself to splash out the £100 or so it will cost me to go.
I'll be buying a season ticket in the coming months, I'll happily buy one no matter what league we are in next season, and knowing that all the money goes to Grimsby Town PLC, without this scummy conference league profiteering more than both the clubs in this years final.
Sorry to hear that, my dad has not missed a home game all year but can't go tomorrow due to ill health (can't walk too far) and he like you will be 110% behind the lads and back at BP next year regardless of tomorrow's result.

Difficult for a lot of people. Costing me around £700 in all with the time off work, travel, coach, new shirt probably spend another £25 or so on the day. A lot of money in these difficult times. Hopefully it'll be worth every penny and more!

Cheers for that, I can afford to go that's the silly thing, it's just me being stubborn about the Wembley pricing thing as whole.
What's really daft is I've spent nights like Tuesday at home to Nuneaton with the other 3,000 die hards wanting to pull my hair out in frustration, now there's another 10,000+ including Melanie Onn going to a one off at Wembley who never go watch Town regular when it just as much matters and I'm not even going, seriously coudn't make this excrement up! lol
Oh well, I'll be back with the diehards next season. UTM!
