Instead of a new thread every time Brigg Town under 15s release someone, how about just the one? Just an idea, don't shoot me or anything!

Anyway, this bloke was good against us a while back: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27151584

Maybe he's being released because he's not good enough for league 2 so why would we want him next season

FGR fans have been very disappointed with him this season by all accounts Abdul and aren't losing any sleep over him leaving.

Not sure myself. Think him and Pearson are too similar. Would like t see a more cultured centre half alongside Pearson, but if Boyce is signed, then i wouldn't be too disappointed.

Tote Nsiala, was outstanding at BP. Supposedly doesn't have a sensible head on his shoulders which has stopped him playing at a higher level. Would drive him here myself though!

Hurst (or his replacememt needs to make a quick decision on what type of football we should play and then fit a team around that
Too many times this season we are neither one thing nor the other - an effective, long ball unit like Halifax or a slick, passing team like Kiddy; we fall between two stools which leads to us playing pretty football in triangles tight to the touchline and/or p*ssing around with it for 2 minutres at the back before going long
Slade had a game plan - not pretty but effective - solid at the back; pump it up to Jones; let the ball players play off him; release Reddy to run at defenders

So, hopefully, Hurst will know this and will have several players in mind.

For example, Connor Jennings scored 17 goals in 19 games for a decent passing team like Macclesfield; why didn't he core hardly any for us? Long ball tactics? Poor service?
I don't believe Jennings lost his knack of scoring - he didn't get decent service.

We desperately need a box to box midfielder (perhaps two) in the mould of Cunnington, Cockerill, Bolland - how often did we attack this season and hardly get any bodies into the box?

Big decisions to be made

John Akinde's contract is up at Alfreton and they don't seem to be in a great position at the minute. Sign him up, a better version of John-Lewis.

Wes York been released by Nuneaton? What has happened to him? We were interested in him last summer along with a numerous other clubs apparently...

Sergio Torres been released by Crawley today too. Not sure how old he is and maybe league 2 clubs maybe interested?

33 now. We need to be finding players like him when they are young, not when they are at the end of their careers. He was fantastic when he came here with Wycombe a few years back.

I read his story somewhere. He came to England with nothing to try and make the grade. There must be loads of players like him out there, just looking for a chance. It's finding them that's the hard part.

I expect we will trial a few over the summer.

Carlisle have released Liam Noble (centre midfield) and Chris Chantler (left back/left midfield).  Both aged 22/23 years and are product of Sunderland and Man City prior to Carlisle.  Graham Kavanagh doesn't rate them, a decision which baffles the majority of Carlisle fans.  Noble has bags of energy and has played well over 100 games, at times can be a bit of a hot head but never shirks.  Chantler is a league one player and will get snapped up without a doubt.

Would love to see them at BP next season but think they will stay in the football league.

I hope not, I don't see why people like him so much. People think because he is from our youth academy and shows passion on the pitch then it means he is talented. He cost us a lot when he was here due to his positional awareness and his poor distribution. Don't get me wrong he is a nice lad and he does care about the club but if Bradley Wood is the best we can hope for at right back then I don't think it is a sign of progress. I find it very strange with some peoples obsession with him, you can admire a player but the way they show it is very odd. Surely if he was as good as people made out about him then he would be playing in the football league.

I thought that Bradley Wood had moved into midfield at Alfreton - his tenacity could be useful for a squad where he could also do a job at right back - money this year may mean some utility players coming in and covering more than one main position?

He would probably love to have a midfield enforcer role and toughen up the central backbone at this level?

If Hurst wants grafters with passion for the club, then he could do worse than give him another go?

Not sure if it's been mentioned elsewhere, but Luton Town have released 8 players.
Quoted from Official Football Conference Website, 10th May 2014
Anthony Charles, Jon Shaw and David Viana have not been offered new contracts with the Skrill Premier champions and will leave when their current deals expire next month.

Town manager John Still has also placed winger Dave Martin and central midfielder Solomon Taiwo on the transfer list.

It comes two days after Lathaniel Rowe-Turner, Jerome Jibodu and Jake Woolley were also released by the club.

Defender Charles, 33, departs having picked up his third Conference winners medal with the Hatters this season.

The former Barnet and Aldershot Town centre-half joined the Hatters in the summer but injury restricted him to just eight appearances.

Centre forward Shaw (pictured), 30, leaves Kenilworth Road having scored 10 goals in fifty-one appearances following his move from Gateshead in the summer of 2012.

A hernia injury kept the striker out of action at the beginning of this season, but he still managed to make thirteen appearances this term.

Meanwhile, Portuguese midfielder Viana, 22, has struggled to force his way into the Town side since joining the club in September following a successful trial. His three appearances all came in the FA Trophy.

Both Martin and Taiwo have been made available for transfer having been restricted to a limited number of appearances this term. Martin had spent time on-loan with Dartford this season, whilst Taiwo also enjoyed a loan spell with Aldershot.

What age and league do you think that Hurst will be searching for the new midfielders we so desperately need next year?

Will it be the non playing squad players from League one or two - similar to Conor Townsend's loan from his position at Hull, needing league games?

Do we look at midfielders who have proved they can play in this league?

Could it be up and comers who are currently part timers but want full time contracts?

As much as we armchair pundits go on you tube and watch players' best moments, it must be a thorough scouting system from Hurst and others that will find potential players - not as easy as we think, so I'm prepared to wait to see what Hurst does in the close season.

Acko.any half decent boss will prob have half a dozen up to ten possible targets for each position. There have been some v interesting articles on the in depth flow charts that moyes uses to track players for year after year. One thing that is v rarely mentioned about fergie is what a state he left the scouting network for moyes to inherit.the phrase chalk n cheese was never more apt apparently

Forza - fully agree - just wanted the boredom of close season not to sink in too soon - Hurst will probably be ticking off names as soon as he talks to the last few contracts to be settled, then he'll know what his nucleus is.

Will he use trials as well as his contacts to find these players?

A lot of fans on here just think it's a snap of the fingers to get players to join us - way out on this bleak east coastline !

In the Championship / Div 1, then possibly, all those years ago, but we are right down in anyone's pecking order now.

The season ticket holders will want to know that they can renew with some form of confidence, not see other sides grabbing who seem to be the bargains early on.

Just wanted to provoke some thoughts as different teams publish their released lists.

Why scout when you have the free Fishy resource !!

John Fenty, did he or did he not say that he was impressed by PH contacts regarding replacement players, unless he only watches one side (us) during a match he must have a wish list before the season end as to who he would like to see wearing the stripes

Blair scored last night in the playoffs so doubt he'll be dropping back down to the Conference.

Sam Togwell- Ex Scunny defensive midfielder released by chesterfield

Jake Speight ex Wrexham released by Mansfield,  never seems to get a regular start BUT has an impressive scoring record (maybe suggests something isnt quite right?)

Simon Walton released by Hartlepool. (Ex Leeds & Ipswich) Only 26 and played a lot of games in League. Probably still get a league club but a big lad for a midfielder who would be suited if we want more power

Any of this lot any good?

Quoted Text
THE TORQUAY UNITED CAR BOOT SALE

Roll up, roll up!

Is your team looking for an experienced (but crap) right back? Or what about a striker who comes with a fantastic beard (and a broken arm)? If so, look no further than TQ1!

For sale we have...

Dale Tonge - Experienced right back. Played loads of times for Rotherham and came to us with fairly high expectations. Turned out to be absolutely terrible. But he's got a lot of experience so whoever needs an experienced pro as part of their defence then look no further!

Karl Hawley - The once excellent striker who bagged lots of goals for Carlisle is the next player up for grabs! Another part of Alan Knill's 2013 transfer window masterclass, this guy. Scored 3 goals for us in about 30 odd appearances, and ended the season on the treatment table with a broken arm. What more do you want?!

Ben Harding - I'm actually a bit surprised at this one. He's won this division before with Aldershot, yet has been naff for us, to be honest. If you want a fancy-dan centre midfielder who might occasionally win a header or pick out a nice hollywood pass, this is your man!

Shaun Cooper - ***MYSTERY PLAYER*** Signed in January - never ever featured for us. I genuinely have no clue what sort of player he is, but he could be exactly the player your team needs!

Elliot Benyon - Bags of energy, this one. Unfortunately he can often be like Bambi (spends more time on the floor than on his feet). Doesn't know the offside rule. However, if the ball is in the penalty area at his feet, there is a possibility that he might find the onion bag. Probably not though.

Nathan Craig - Genuinely this guy is a good passer and he has a wicked delivery. Unfortunately he struggles on the physical side. Think more of a Xavi than a Lee Cattermole. Also struggles in a two-man midfield. Wants a move back near North Wales.

Aaron Downes - Came to us and instantly became a cult figure for fans. However he was poor last season as we struggled, and Hargreaves wants rid. Current holder of 'the longest header of the season' award.

Jordan Chapell - Another surprise. Fast, skilful. Unfortunately he can't really cross a ball to save his life. Wants to move back to Sheffield. Still young though so this is the one I think we will get rid of, somewhere.

Take your pick, ladies!

These are his stats for the 2013/2014 season. Total goals 28.

Ricky Miller

Age 25, Striker

Previous Clubs:
Hitchin Town, Rothwell Town, Spalding United, Stamford AFC, St Ives Town, Arlesey Town, Corby Town.

Biography:
Striker Ricky Miller rejoined Boston United for a second spell in June 2013. He had netted six goals in 12 appearances for the Pilgrims during the second half of the 2008-2009 campaign as United battled relegation from the UniBond Premier League. His hat-trick against Prescot Cables and last minute winner at Hednesford Town were key elements in United beating the drop. He was allowed to move on that summer as new bosses Rob Scott and Paul Hurst put their stamp on the squad and he continued his career with the likes of Stamford AFC, for whom he netted the winning goal in their May 2013 Evo-Stik Division One South play-off final victory over Chasetown. I expect we'll be linked with Dale Tonge with him being ex-Rotherham and us possibly needing a right back, whether we'll sign him or not I don't know!

I'm bored and there's still so long to wait until August.

So what about that Johan Ter Horst kid that Hull City Tigers signed? A Season at a high end skrill premier club could be a good "next step" in his football education.

Thoughts?

I'll be honest all i know is that he's scored a bag load of goals and at least 3 PL clubs were interested in him so he must have something about him.

Probably not, but unless Bignot improves I wouldn't say he's the attacking right back we need (not that Tonge necessarily is either).

Central midfield - the obvious area where we need to sign the correct player who will rule the centre of play and be a 90 minute dynamo - how much will that type of player cost and will any inflated price paid disrupt the team, even if results merit a better class of player?

Just idling through the latest new players on Transfer PFA and spotted Jordan Chappel - midfielder on both flanks, 23 years old, 35 appearances for Torquay with several goals scored, ex Sheff Utd & Burton Albion.

Does anyone know anything about him, looking at his playing record, could he possibly fit into the current signed squad and maybe add some goals?

Not convinced!

In 10 years he has had less than 90 league starts. That sends a message. Not a goal scorer either.

i see that michael west who was excellent in ebbsfleet's midfield a couple of years ago has failed to break through at crewe and re signed for ebbsfleet a couple of months ago. sort of player that would fit the bill, if he'd regained his form of 2-3 years ago

Continuing with the pure speculation;

Jamille Matt doesn't seem to be able to get in Fleetwoods side. If they are in Lge one next season his chances may be even more limited.
Same perhaps for Steven Schmacher?

Matt would be an incredible signing although can't see it happening myself. He could easily get a club in League Two. Besides, I think Alexander would want to keep hold of him, he's still relatively young with a lot of potential.

Maybe a season long loan would be beneficial for him. Fleetwood was happy to do it with Pond and Goodall and they came back with confidence and both started in the play-off finals, they will never see his real potential sat on the bench.

Kevin Roberts, Andy Pugh, Matthew Barnes-Homer, Sam Smith, Scott Garner and Blaine Hudson have not been offered new contracts with the Cambridge.

Rory McAuley and Ashley Chambers have both been made available on a free transfer.

Players like Wes York show that Hurst is looking to uprate the speed of the team up front this year.

Our team needs to be able to outrun and dominate opposing sides and not get bullied by the enthusiastic part timers.

Has he finally sussed that we were often outfought and not just outplayed by some of the "lower" rated teams in this league?

Not that he has signed anyone yet, just hinted that York is a player type he likes - proof of the pudding - end of June.

So, Paul, while I'm away on hols next week, please give all of the other Fishy fans some good news, preferably with a bold midfielder 1st in line !

Seems like there is something genuine in the Wes York story, from what the GET are reporting and Hurst has said

It's raining.

Bad enough that it's the close season, but to be soaked as well is too much to bear.

Wes York not even been approached according to the Telegraph, Hurst can't be that eager about bringing him here.

Steve Mcnulty and Bayo Akinfenwa both out of contract...... I'm calling it, Town to have the heaviest spine in professional football next season

Is Neil Webb still playing to add to the mix?

Akinfenwa would score goals for fun at this level, I'd put money on it. He isn't fat ether! All muscle that bloke, has his own brand "too big to play football" and all sorts. It would be a huge effort but would piggy pag him myself!
McNulty on the otherhand personally I'd keep clear of. Clearly got ability and winning experience in the league but that bloke really is huge and 30 years of age. Surely being that size and of that age means his days of being a professional footballer are very limited? Even this pre-season and break could surely see him lose his legs all together? Of course I'd have the McNulty of last season but its whether he can replicate that or whether his age and weight will finally get the better of him

Although McNulty is out of contract he is expected to stay at Luton with a new deal under his large belt.

Their skipper Henry has turned down a new deal and is moving on (Stevenage or Northampton evidently)

Makes sense, they usually do announce a new signing everytime the season ticket prices are about to be announced.

Excited! lol

I see Kidderminster are looking for fresh talent from the lower leagues.
Quoted from BBC News | Posted 30th May 2014
Kidderminster Harriers have announced the signing of winger Ahmed Obeng from Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division outfit Rushall Olympic.

Obeng, 22, has been with the Pics since 2010 and scored 17 goals in all competitions in 2013-14 as Rushall finished five points outside the play-off places.

Obeng, who was born in Ghana, can play on either flank and is set to help boost Harriers' attacking potency as they embark on another tilt at promotion from the Conference Premier next season.

I thought Connor Jennings had signed for Forest Green Rovers for a second, but it's James Jennings - left back from Mansfield.

I think it's Connor Jennings brother, both from Manchester and look like twins!

Also one striker we won't be aquiring is Jason Walker, he's left Forest Green Rovers and joined Barrow in the league below.

Unconfirmed football agent on a well known social networking site. Granted, not a reliable source but isn't the first time I've heard of our interest in him in the last 6 months or so (January and the end of the season). Would also go along with what Hurst said about L2 playoff final.

Can he manage any more than 20 minutes? I know he's a decent footballer, and he caused us no end of problems a decade ago, but he's fucking massive. And it's not Akinfenwa muscle, it's fat.

Just received this from a mate who follows Scott Brown and Toto Nisiala (at Southport).

"Toto Niasala, check him out on twitter. Looks like we have offered a deal but is deciding"

"@Ansiala36: not signed anything yet but wouldn't say no to playing with @scottbrown85 he's raving about it. Hard-choice, decision week!"

I can't check it for myself, yet, because his account is protected and have to wait until he's approved me following him on twitter, before I can see the tweet for myself.

Going by a couple of Port Vale fans, they're after him too. Don't know if they're winding me up or not.

You are right, fookin has been knockin 17 goal in 53 for Fleetwood.

So you'd rather make someone on the last legs of his career who'll probably only start a third of our games our highest earner ? Not for me mate .

Yeh to right, I would rather have someone on their last legs that can still score goals than someone in their twenties that can't find the net  and who's to say if he would only manage a third of our games next season ?.Also who says he would be one of our highest earners ?.I think he has still a lot to offer at this level. Everyone is welcome to their own opinions and I respect yours.

That's right mate we'll resist the urge to get in row over it and see what happens in 6 months if he even signs

This is what you call a good striker signing.

Bristol Rovers sign Salisbury City striker

Striker Jamie White has signed for Bristol Rovers on a free transfer after terminating his contract at Salisbury.
White becomes the first summer signing for Rovers following their relegation from the Football League.
The 24-year-old will link up again with Pirates boss Darrell Clarke, who signed the forward during his time in charge at Salisbury.
"I have worked with Jamie before and he is a great signing for the club," Clarke told the club website.
"He is a goalscorer who averages one goal every two games, and he has the potential to be a 20-goal-a-season man.
"He is proven at this level and has the potential to further his career with us. I look forward to working with him."
White came through the Southampton academy and, after a loan spell with Shrewsbury Town in 2008, moved to non-league Eastleigh.
He moved to play in Australia before returning to England's non-league with Winchester before joining Salisbury in 2012, where he scored 37 goals in 73 games.

Has anyone mentioned Scott Boden as a forward yet - wasn't sure if he had already signed for someone for the next season?

How about Scott Spencer from Hyde. Scored plenty of goals and had a decent but short loan spell at Halifax at the end of the season.

Gone to Stockport, admitted in Non League paper that it was an easy move for him as he didn't have to leave home and his family live there

Good experience but not too old at 29. Think he was only at Bristol for a few months and they were a struggling side at the time so that might of come into it. Good record at most of his other clubs. Iv'e heard a striker is close to signing so we will see if it's him or not. Could be someone totally different.
